The Rock

A loss to The Big Show (following interference from Shane Mcmahon) at No Way Out did little to deter The Rock. At Wrestlemania 2000, he competed in a Fatal Fourway Match for the WWF Title against The Big Show, Triple H, and Mick Foley (as you may recall, this was the "Mcmahon In Every Corner" match, with Stephanie in HHH's corner, Shane in The Big Show's corner, Linda in Foley's corner and Vince Mcmahon himself in The Rock's corner). A dissapounting, mediocre affair ended when Vince turned on The Rock and smacked him with a chair.

The Rock and Triple H then had a great feud which stretched over the next few months. The Rock won HHH's title at Backlash (thanks in part to Steve Austin, who returned with a broken neck for one night only), "The Game" regained it at Judgement Day in an overlong 60 minute Ironman Match, and The Rock got it back at King Of The Ring in a six-man tag (The Rock, Undertaker and Kane VS Vince and Shane and HHH). The Rock clashed with Helmsley again at Summerslam in a triple threat match featuring Kurt Angle. But because all the hype for the match was based around the "Love Triangle" between HHH, Stephanie and Angle, The Rock just looked like the supporting cast and should have really been put in another match. The Rock retained the title after an entertaining contest, but the REAL story was that Kurt Angle carried a knocked-out Stephanie Mcmahon from the ring, after "The Game" unintentionally struck her.
