Place in History - Easily one of the greatest women's wrestlers of all-time and amongst the most important characters in pro-wrestling history, especially in Japan. Lioness Asuka formed half of the hugely popular Crush Girls team that set All Japan Women on fire in the 80s. With similiar pop appeal as the Beauty Pair of the previous generation, the Crush Girls were tremendous workers and would help raise the bar for the next generation. While Chigusa Nagayo was the star because of her storytelling ability, Asuka was not far behind and probably the better athlete and worker. After a a few years of retirement Asuka returned in `94 as a freelancer and did runs with about every joshi company and holding the top title and tag titles in most. While her critics would say she's selfish and washed up, Lioness Asuka is such a skilled veteran that she gets it done when she has to and her work has really not dropped off as much as some say. I suspect she'll continue to hang around doing the same stuff she has been doing until it does drop off, but either way she is amongst the greatest stars that joshi puroresu has ever seen.
