Place in History - One of the greatest workers in the world at the time of his death, Art Barr's legacy is marred by the wrestling lifestyle claiming him. Art Barr came from a wrestling family, the son of Sandy and brother of Jesse, who were known in the wrestling world. However, Art was cursed to be a smaller wrestler and it held him back substantially in his early years. To compound that misfortunate a sex scandal in 1990 drastically hurt his reputation in the States and WCW never was able to push him even moderately. He was a gifted worker though and had exceptional charisma and that became his ticket to Mexico. Debuting as the "American Love Machine" in CMLL, Barr finally had a chance to shine. Like many he didn't like life in Mexico, but he was quickly one of the top talents in the company. He jumped to AAA and continued strong, soon becoming the top rudo in the company. Getting near-riot levels of heat, Love Machine soon aligned himself with Eddy Guerraro, Konnan and Madonna's Boyfriend (Louie Spicolli) to form the tremendous Los Gringos Locos faction. 1994 saw Barr's career take off with his hard-work paying off in a big way as New Japan, ECW and WCW all had interest in him. He had been a wildman a few years earlier, but Art had calmed down and was focusing on his family and career. Sadly, Art died of suspicious causes in November and it was all cut tragically short. One of wrestling's many losses, Art Barr was perhaps just hitting his stride and could've become one of the best juniors in the world and he and Eddy Guerraro had legendary tag team potentially. A charismatic young man and a hardworker, Art Barr's greatness is limited to a difficult climb and an exceptional streak in Mexico.
