Serious Injuries - Kidney Removed

Place in History - Danny 'Boy' Collins is one of Britian's most celebrated welterweights who was a big star when British wrestling was at its height. He broke in at sixteen when British wrestling was in its television heyday and was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. He climbed the ladder quickly and had great charisma while fighting from underneath. Unfortunately, Collins had to have a kidney removed when his career could have really taken off. The surgery didn't sideline him long or hinder his in-ring abilities, but it kept away from reaching the superstardom he seemed destined for at such a young age. Collins had helped bring a more aerial dimension to Britian and he was exceptional in his day. When British wrestling lost TV and the industry collapsed there, Collins was one of the most notable casualities. He did travel, worked hard in his homeland and maintained his abilities through the 90s, but the opportunity was lost. Men like Steven Regal and Fit Finlay were able to get big pushes abroad, but a low key and in many ways outdated Dan Collins was lost with dozens of talented British wrestlers from the 80s. Danny 'Boy' Collins remains one of the greatest stars of the TV era of British wrestling.
