Place in History - Ed Wiskowski established himself in Portland as a premier heel, especially as the partner of Buddy Rose. The duo, often called "The Cripplers," could do it all. They played chickensh*t heels when they had to and brutalized opponents when they had. They had that versitility. Wiskowski was the handlebar mustached "Polish Prince" and delivered strong promos and drew great heat. While not a top flight worker, Wiskowski knew how to work the crowd and play the heel as well as anyone at his level. Wiskowski reinvented himself in the mid-80s as Colonel DeBeers, a racist from aparteid era South Africa. It was an original character like Sgt. Slaughter with bigoted overtones that worked well. DeBeers never achieved after the AWA collapsed, but he had made a niche for himself in the 80s with one of the most controversial characters ever. Ed Wiskowski retired to Portland and partnered up with Buddy Rose again and they run a camp to this day.
