Place in History - Probably the greatest manager ever. While many could make cases for others, the fact is Bobby Heenan had a greater impact on more territories than anyone and was the manager in the WWF when they hit it big. While Heenan was able to play the old carny handler role well where he talked up a new wrestler who'd destroy everyone that was not his best role. Heenan played an arrogant rich kid with a big mouth, who surrounded himself with individuals such as himself. From Nick Bockwinkel to Curt Hennig to Ric Flair, Heenan was always standing next to those just like him...who were "more" successful. While he could and did overshadow his tight-lipped wrestlers, Heenan was more often than not the right man for the job. One could probably also make the case he was an excellent wrestler, since he played the cowardly heel role better than most: offering classic facial expressions in addition to taking the big bumps necessary to send the fans home happy. Quick wit was what turned "Pretty Boy" Heenan into Bobby "The Brain," one of the slickest people ever to grab a microphone. It was that skill that allowed Heenan to act as a color commentator for over a decade, most of those years were after his managerial ones as well. One of the greatest talents the wrestling world has ever seen and the man who set the bar on what makes a great manager.
