Place in History - Buzz Sawyer was something special in the Southeastern territories as one of the premier brawlers of his day. Coming from a strong amateur background, Sawyer had the type of body that was built to go and not just for show. Very powerful and intense, Sawyer's style was one that should've made a star somewhere. He didn't leave much to imagination and while certain guys loved him because of the physicality he brought, many feel it hurt him though by getting him heat with the boys and it cost him some breaks. Sawyer's selfishness without political power probably killed his career before it really took off, but he became a notable star in the 80s. He was a fitting product of the times as Sawyer battled drug addiction for his final years in wrestling and became even more challenging to work with, eventually said problems killed him.
