Pre-Algebra HP This course is designed for accelerating the gifted and talented student in the mathematics curriculum. Expect approximately the same amound of homework as assigned in other math courses. However, there may be a higher level of thinking and multiple step problems. Emphasis is placed on the quality of all completed problems. We will learn at a much faster pace. Students must maintain a minimum of a "B" average and complete 95% of all homework assigned. At the quarter, we will review student progress and identify those who are having difficulty. Students who are not performing at expected levels will be placed on probation for the duration of the semester. If the teacher finds that the level of work is still below class expectations, the student will be transferred to a regular class.
Pre-Algebra P This course is designed for accelerating the college bound student. Again, expect approximately the same amount of homework as assigned in other math courses. However, there may be a higher level of thinking, multiple step problems and an emphasis on quality of all problems. Students should maintain a minimum of a "C" average or may be put in a summer school class. An "A" or "B" is required to advance to Algebra in eighth grade.
Math 7 The majority of our students qualify for Math 7. This course is designed to teach Pre-Algebra at a pace that is more comprehensive to the student and can take the time to review areas that were not mastered in elementary school. Quality and showing all work on all problems are emphasised. "I did the work in my head" is not an acceptable answer for homework.
