It brings to Dublin Poetry Slam which originated in Chicago USA in the ‘80’s and has since then been spreading it’s tentacles around the planet. "Write & Recite" and Poetry Slam in general provide an open mic session where poets and punters alike can get up on stage and compete against each other for a mystery prize and coveted title of Grand Slam Poet. As well as performing pre-prepared poems the audience are also given the opportunity to write poems there and then on the night based on words thrown up by the audience and perform their new compositions as part of the Poetry Slam. 
It's amazing what people can write in twenty minutes when given the chance.
