My Poetry Continued

Alone I am

Alone I am and alone I'll stay
alone in January and alone in May
alone I am even with friends
alone I'll be until the end

Along came you

It was a lonely,lonely day
I was in a lonely way
Lonely words I could hear
in this lonely, lonely year
Lonely as a ring in hock
Lonely as a rolling rock
Lonely as a church mouse
Lonely as an empty house
It was a lonely sort of day
I was in a lonely sort of way
loneliness was nothing new
Then, along came you

Better than alone

The sun it is setting
evening is nigh
the cars in the park
keep on passing by

people just sitting around
watching the traffic go
inside, maybe they're hoping
to find someone to know

the heat of the day is passed
cool breezes replace the sun
I sit and watch the people
now that day is done

I sit here in the quiet
content to be alone
I guess it's really better
than sitting alone at home

Lost Childhood

Watch the children swing and play
not a care in the world have they
they run and sing and shout to say
that spring is here to stay

Still, they know that spring will fade away
replaced by a hot and scorching summers day
and still they'll run and still they'll play
asking summer to please, please stay

But still green leaves will fall away
bringing autumn and a chilling day
children will run and play

freezing wind and a snowy day
won't stop the children while at play
they'll still sing and shout to say
I wish my childhood was here to stay
