I'M OLD

I’m “old” and now 50, so anything goes.
From dyeing my hair to painting my toes
Or plucking the petals right off of the rose
I’m “old” and now 50, so anything goes

And since I’m “that age” I’d just like to say
If I really don’t like it, I won’t say “okay”
Whatever I want, I’d like it my way
Because I’m “that age” I’ll like what I say

This age, as they say, is the top-of-the-hill
So I’ll climb right on up and I’ll see better still
I know there’s a way if you give it the will
When you climb right on up to the top-of-the-hill

Hitting 50 is nothing like hitting home runs
There’s no one in bleachers who cheers out in fun
You do it yourself until hitting it’s done
The big score is “50” (it ain’t just a “1”)

I’m half of one-hundred, and I’ve seen a lot
If something’s unjust, I WILL stir the pot
(To challenge is better than sitting to rot)
I’m half of one-hundred and I can’t be bought.

“You don’t look your age” it has often been said
But all those folks see is the skin on my head
(They never have seen me all naked in bed!)
But looking your age is much better than dead….

So what if I’m 50 and still play with toys?
I also like playing with young girls and boys
It’s their youth and their pep that I rather enjoy
So what if I’m 50 and love to make noise!

And so I am 50 but now I know why
I choose to remember each day that goes by
I see how my life and time really does fly
I’m old and I’m 50 and want to live high.

I’ve got just a year to be 50, you see,
I’ll make it as good as I can, hopefully.
I’ll need that much time to continue as “me”.
