WHO IS TOM WILLIAMS?

Born 4th February, 1970 in Perth, Western Australia, I still live in Perth, currently with Monique, my wife of 12 years, my baby daughter Jasmine and a crazy cat called Motley. By day I work for a real estate magazine - down to earth work - so my off-hours are spent in more outlandish pursuits, including writing SF & fantasy.

Published work includes short stories & my novel, the SF epic, Terra Nova. I am currently at work on novel projects.

My novel, Terra Nova.

Many years in the writing, my first novel is Terra Nova, first published in November 1999 by Awe-struck e-publishing (www.awe-struck.net).

Terra Nova tells the tale of Mikael Svensson, a reconnaissance pilot who is the only apparent survivor of a massacre of the human race by mysterious aliens called The Enemy. His FTL drive is damaged, and his only possible haven is the colony world, Terra Nova - a trip that will take 2000 years. After going into suspended animation, Svensson undertakes the long journey and finds there are, indeed, humans living on Terra Nova - but they have regressed into the Dark Ages. The Enemy menaces the planet and its largely oblivious citizens, held back only by automatic defences - which are beginning to fail. Mikael Svensson is the only hope for Terra Nova and its people.

I tried. Oh, how I tried. Three long years fighting myself, ever craving your sweet vitality. I thought I could beat instinct, until that moment, that unexpected glimpse of your soft throat as you pinned your hair before the mirror…

Such was the love in your eyes that my defences abruptly shattered, and I leapt upon you, bloodlust singing in me. Ah, the bittersweet taste, as first I sensed your terror, then realisation of your fate. Yet I could not stop, even as your love drained away. With tears in my eyes, I felt you fill and boil with hatred for what I had done. And your expression…

It will pain me evermore, or as long as we both exist, that you will ever look upon me with such contempt. For I will love you forever, even as you despise me.
