United We Stand |
September 11, 2002 One year ago hundrends parished, because terriorst wanted to make a change. They made a changed, but it wasn't the one they had planned on. Instead of America becoming powerless and fearful to their mercy, we became united in ways we never had before. It's a shame that it took innocent lives to show us how much we had learned to take for granted. As children in school we studied our four fathers, and how they established what we now know as the United State of America. We studied other countries as well, but the one thing that has been true since the beginning of our nation is that we have always been a super power and that no one can touch us. We were wrong. In the earlying morning of 9-11 two of our planes full of our people were flown into the World Trade Center, the Twin Towers; a site that is now know as ground zero. A plane was also flown in the Pentagon; which has been rebuilt . And finally a plane headed to another place to harm innocent people didn't get it's chance, Flight 93 which had been taken over by terrorist was then inturn taken over by the passengers who then proceeded to crash the plane in a field in Penn. to save innocent lives. In all the suffering we came together to help those in need. Money was donated to the victoms and the family's who lost loved ones. The crews that helped clean up at ground zero along with the Firefighters, EMS workers and the Police officers. Flags went up, and our colors shined through. Even those who didn't know people directly involved we touch and effected by the events. America's past time, the great game of baseball was effected. I remember going to the Seattle Mariner's game shortly after 9-11, a game that had been reshedualed, against the Texas Rangers. For those of you who don't know the Ranger's current short stop A-Rod had formally played for Seattle, but had left for reasons we all know. Anyways when ever the Rangers would come into town the crowed who boo Alex when he came up to bat, but on that night. They didn't because everyone was there to watch the game a game that had been party of our history, a game that had even lasted while the country was involved in WWII. Along with the singing of the National Anthem at the games America the Beautiful was added to be a regular occurence as well. So as we look back, we need not forget those lost and those who helped in the recovery. We need to remember we are the citizens of the United States of America and United We Stand. And our colors will never run or parish. |
