In a tight game it was the Cobb Division Cobbs 8, the Mathewson Div Mattys 6
at Polo Grounds.
Cobb Division took the lead off Sam Jones in the first inning when they
tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Ted Williams
who deflated the crowd as he slapped a single plating two runs. Billy
Pierce(1-0) got help from Dick Hyde who pitched a perfect ninth and was
