Tottenham have warned Manchester United that midfielder Simon
Davies is not available at any price.
Speculation is rife that Sir Alex Ferguson is poised to make an
£8m bid for the Wales international this week.
But Tottenham Director of Football David Pleat said Spurs wanted
to keep the talented youngster.
"Speculation about Simon's future has surfaced, but any club
will be told politely that he is not available," he said.
Davies spent time on trial at United when he was at
Peterborough, but the Premiership club did not offer him a
contract.
Wales boss Mark Hughes is understood to have recommended Davies
to Ferguson after the player's impressive form for club and
country this season.
Meanwhile, Tottenham's move for Bolton striker Michael Ricketts
looks to have fallen through after the Lancashire club increased
their demands for the player.
Bolton boss Sam Allardyce insisted that Spurs were only
interested in a deal involving player swaps, and had made an
offer of £1m plus £1.5m-rated utility man Gary Doherty.
However, Wanderers have upped their valuation of the striker and
say they want at least £3m, plus a player. |
