WSF Blue Belt Requirements _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Strikes/Stand up -Parry side kick, step into choke -Opponent bear hugs from behind: 5 strike (foot stomp, headbut, groin strike, elbow, mule kick) -Opponent grabs collar: elbow, reverse elbow, grab head & knee -Stop kicks or move to clench with flying knee (cover up) Throws/Takedowns -Sweep foot to throw (forward, sideways and circle sweeps) -Grab head, pick far ankle, reverse twist -Arm drag (can trip backwards to straight knee bar or pull forward to turtle) -Grab belt over shoulder, stomp sideways or forward to throw Side Mount (Includes: Kesa, HH, Reverse Kesa) -Arm under neck, mastergrip, elbow into neck, pez choke or sternum crush -HH: arm under neck, spin to other side, push opponent on side, neck crank with master grip -Same as above but circle arm around neck, knee into ribs, step over head, Judo arm bar -Same as above but sit opponent up, drop back into lap, neck crank Escapes from Guard -Grab belt, push on belt and thrust but in air as you hop backwards, grab pant leg, cross legs, left lock -From open guard, drop shoulder into opponent’s stomach, jump over to side mount Leg Techniques -Heel hook variation: put heel in hip, grab opponent’s heel with opposite arm, grab own wrist, twist -From turtle: grab foot and put shin across ankle, pull & push to Achilles crush -Side mount: opponent crosses leg to block; foot lock, roll over body to apply -In open guard: grab foot, roll over leg & through to apply foot lock (kick leg on the way) Escapes from Judo Arm Bar -Trust hips in air and pop over to side mount: or push head, throw leg over head & arm bar Guard -Under hook/over hook, chest-to-chest, extend legs, break ribs -Attempt triangle; opponent throws leg over head, Gokor arm bar: or perform technique below -Opponent tries to pass under leg, hook leg with instep and grab wrist, sit up to shoulder crank -Opponent’s hand on ground: trap wrist with neck, turn to side & arm bar Guard Reversals -Feet on hips; airplane ride to arm bar -Feet on hips; airplane ride to mount, choke Mount -Opponent grabs hands together; chicken leg counter -Chicken wing, hand on throat, choke/arm bar -Grab lapel, other hand grabs opposite shoulder, scissor arms, choke -Reach around neck and grab bicep, other arm slides under armpit, choke Turtle/KK (Knee-to-Knee) -KK; opponent shoots, sprawl, push head down, encircle other arm through opponent’s arm, grab own wrist, turn over to shoulder crank -KK; overhook/underhook, step over shoulder, roll to triangle with shoulder crank -Banana split from throwing legs (can twist ankle) -Attempt banana split but opponent stands and shakes off; banana split/knee bar Miscellaneous Escapes -Escape standing rear naked choke: grab arm & throw forward or push chin back & bridge to head lock position -Escape standing head lock by stepping in front to ogoshi or arch to sideways ogoshi Counters -To guard guillatine: cross legs, push knee & drop leg back to reverse kesa, go to side mount -To guard guillatine: sit back & pull opponent on lap, drop arm over back, Russian neck crank -Counter sweep: put foot in bicep, reverse hyperextend ankle; or slide to key lock on knee; or put ankle in bicep, grab belt, take back -Counter whizzer or chicken wing by pushing shoulder down with both hands to arm bar Weapons Defense -Gun at back; turn shoulder to key lock Copyright property of: World Sambo Federation |
