WSF Purple Belt Requirements _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Strikes/Stand Up -Opponent jabs & kicks leg; round kick to leg same time, push opponent, leg kick again -Fake jab, cross, hook, round kick to leg -Fake step forward to jab, slide back, wait for jab, block jab & round kick to leg -Opponent jab, crosses: parry punches, cross, hook, round kick to leg Throws/Takedowns -Double leg counter: lock around waist, throw over shoulder, or push head down, spin to shoulder crank -Opponent single legs: hook leg, stomp to throw; or pick ankle -Ouchi-gari (inside reap): Grab leg & inside reap if opponent grabs belt, or stomp to opposite leg -Osoto-gari (outside reap): With crescent step (can grab belt) (can trip sideways) Side Mount (Includes: Kesa, HH, Reverse Kesa) -Rev. Kesa: try to mount, opponent crosses leg; grab foot & pass; or pull pant leg toward you; or drop hips headward; or hook knee bend to pass -Opponent crosses leg: footlock with roll -Opponent crosses leg: grab thigh between legs, pop to squat, reverse ankle twist -Opponent crosses leg: pop calf toward other leg, lace own leg through and hook foot, elbow to back of head, body crank Escapes from Guard -From double grapevine: push both knees down as you hop to mount -From double grapevine: drop one leg back and bring forward to hook foot, heel hook, foot lock or knee bar Leg Techniques -Opponent in par ter position: roll through to knee bar (if knee isn’t between legs, roll through to escape) -Opponent figure fours legs with hooks in and on back; footlock & roll to side -Opponent ankle locks while lying on side: key lock knee; or push knee & scoot out to side mount -Opponent jumps into guard from standing; push hip so opponent falls to back, grab both ankles, take to stomach & double Boston crab Escapes from Mount -Grab belt, bump & go elbow to knee, throw leg over opponent’s & go to ankle twist (or big bump to Boston crab) Guard -Chicken wing & grab lapel, kick leg over head, arm bar/choke -Chicken wing & grab lapel, grab shoulder, choke -Grab wrist & kick leg over arm, shoulder crank with legs (can assist with hand) -SAB but opponent rolls out: knee bar Guard Reversals -Arm bar secured; opponent posts leg, underhook leg & push over to arm bar -Arm bar secured; opponent stacks, trap other leg with back of hand, flip to back Mount -Arm bar by falling footward & grab near or far ankle; ankle lock/arm bar -Arm bar resistance; opponent grabs bicep, push arm off & arm bar -Reverse half nelson guillatine with hooks in -Opponent grabs around waist; push head; knee over one arm, squeeze knees, shoulder crank/arm bar Turtle/KK (Knee-to-Knee) -KK; opponent shoots, head on inside; turn sideways & roll to Kesa by kicking leg on roll -Cross grab lapel, grab wrist, walk around head, clock choke -Opponent super turtles & you can’t sink hooks; grab both wrists, roll over head & pull opponent over to choke -SAB but opponent resists roll; flip back over & sink hooks, choke Miscellaneous Escapes -From shoulder crank using legs: roll underneath opponent to side mount -Headward holdown: pivot legs side-to-side, spin to guard Counters -Belt throw counter: Russian neck crank, straighten leg, sacrifice throw -Counter outside/inside reaps by reverse reap/sweep leg -Counter headward holdown: foot slides under one arm, spin to triangle (start with knees to chest) -Counter kimora: grab hands together - go to knees, to go guard Weapons Defense -Gun; parry inward, keylock arm, Osoto-gari __________________________ Copyright property of: World Sambo Federation |
