This new year has many things in store for us. We continue to be a church who recieves various short-term mission teams for the blessing of the community. We have had a couple free medical clinics these last few months, teams have come to bless many families with house modules, and there has been much sharing of the love of Christ through these blessing and the work of many. To finish 2007 we were able to celebrate the birth of Christ with a party in each of the three churches. It was a time of joy for the children to share together on this special day and thanks to many donations each of the children were able to go home with a gift. What brought me great joy was that we as a church were able to organize almost everything without having to depend on help from outside of Tacna. In the last days we were short a few gifts and the love and selflessness of some of you helped to make this special day happen. We thank you all for your donations and prayers which made it a success. To see some photos of this day click here. |
After Christmas we were able to take a break for a week and relax a little. Chiqui and I took a week of vacation to just do nothing. It was perfect timing for us to reflect on this last year and the year to come and I was able to go on a short 2 day trip to meditate and pray about where God is going to be leading us. It was an amazing time to read His word, pray and meditate on it, and to do nothing more that seek Him who is love. The time served to give us a boost for the next missions team that was to arrive from Washington in a couple days. This new team came very prepared to work hard and do all they can to be a blessing. In groups of two, the team was split up and they lived with host families from the church. For the short time they were here half of the team was able to host a medical clinic for a few days in the two churches with the most need. The other half of the team built three house modules in a week. They were working very very hard and thanks to their unselfishness and desire to bless more the 700 people were able to be seen in the clinic and three families were able to recieve better housing. As a church it was yet another moment to thank and praise God for His great love and His grace for allowing us to be a part, and for the blessing to be able to meet such loving and wonderful people. Before January ended we also had the blessing of hosting two teams from the church in Chile and also as a church we also formed a group to do missions within our own city. These three teams combined to do much evangelism in various plazas, as well as visit many of the people we met in the different activities. One of the teams from Chile also did VBS in two of the churches for all of the children in the community. They taught many great educative classes with skits about the Bible and even some about basic hygiene. The kids loved seeing Captain Toothbrush and his sidekick Toothpaste beat the enemy forces of Plaque and Cavaties. |
We ask for your continual prayers for us and the church of Tacna. We are still a fairly young church and even younger missionaries leading her and your prayers and support are most appreciated and needed. We are planning on beginning cell groups in less than a month and it is our hope that many will come to know Christ through them. Lift up Vidal and Rosa who as of now will be the hosts of two of the groups. Lift up us leaders for we need much wisdom to do what God desires and for the love to do it accordingly. We thank God each time that we remember you. |
