"Our God is an awesome God, He reigns in heaven on earth?, With wisdom and power and love Our God is an awesome God." |
Have you ever been so excited about something that you could not explain it? Have you ever had so much joy and hope that your thoughts and feelings could not express what God has placed within you? This is how I am feeling even though the next few months are going to be very busy. Chiqui and I have made another step in our marraige. On November 14th we moved into our apartment. It is a perfect little 1 room, 1 bathroom place that allows us to little by little fill it up. It was a wonderful blessing to recieve a stove from previous missionaries that were her. We were also able to find a used refrigerator at a very reasonable price. We are now waiting paitently to find the other helpful pieces like a desk, table, dresser, etc. We loved out first meal with Chiqui's mom and a friend of ours, where we sat on the floor and used a box?? as a table. It is a beautiful new experience for us to get accustomed to live on our own and not have all the things that we are used to having having lived with families our whole lives. Hopefully we will have internet soon to be able to stay in better contact with you all and send more newsletters and prayer requests. Please keep these things in your prayers. |
Right: The high school group from Ciudad Nueva on a day retreat Corner: A few of us on a hanging bridge where a river used to pass Below: 7 of us took made our way to the destination through the middle of nowhere |
In Ciudad Nueva, we are focusing ourselves on the youth group. The group had died when Chiqui and I went on our honeymoon and the missions trip in Ecuador. Since our return we began to pray, think, and plan what was going to happen with them. We began visiting the youth, we have some new practical Bible studies, and we began to have special activities on Friday nights to give them a place to go and have fun. One Saturday we went on a retreat and were able to have some great conversations while we walked and walked and walked. It was a fun time to spend with them and see some hyroglifics, bridges, and just walk in the middle of the desert. Please keep this group in your prayers. We have been praying for their dedication, as well as the dedicated leaders with positive energy and influence. The youth are drowning in the problems on every corner of drugs, alcohol, broken or abusive families, etc. We want so bad to see God glorify Himself in the joy and renovation they can enjoy in Him. Again we ask many prayers for the youth. |
There have also been some grief for us all. We have been blessed to have some interns here this year, and there was one very special woman who dedicated her time to restoring lives and relationships. Anna Bigelow was interning here for 10 months and God used her to disciple and love many people. But her internship ended on the 30th and she is now on her way back to the states. It was a very grieving time saying goodbye, but our prayers continue for her and for more like her to come or be raised up. She gave us as example of how to love people and how to be a person of prayer(which go hand in hand). She will be missed. We wait to see what more God will do here in Tacna with all of our prayers. Hopefully you will get to hear them in the next newsletter. May God bless you all. |
