The Heroes

Hero: noun: One who shows great courage in a dangerous or difficult situation A few weeks ago if you asked someone who they saw as a hero chances are good they would have mentioned a sports figure, or perhaps someone in the entertainment business. On September 11, 2001 our perception of the word hero was forever changed. We saw the word personified over and over again . We saw firemen, police officers, emergency personnel, and others show us what the true meaning of the word hero was. We heard of the courage of men like Todd Beamer and others on the planes  who sacrificed themselves to save countless others. We will forever have the images of these brave men and women, many who gave their lives that day to save others, Greater Love hath no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends. God bless the heroes and may we never forget them.

A Fireman's Prayer When I am called to duty, God Wherever Flames may rage Give me the strength to save some life Whatever Be its age Help me embrace a little child Before it is too late Or save an older person from The horror of that fate Enable me to be alert and Hear the weakest shout And quickly and efficiently To put the fire out I want to fill my calling and To give the best in me To guard my every neighbor And protect their property And if according to your will I have to lose my life Please bless with your protecting hand My children and my wife.
