The West TN Sheep Club met on Sunday, April 9, at Cannon Farms in South Fulton, TN.  New officers were elected and plans for the new year were discussed.  The new officers are as follows- President- Joseph Shultz, Vice-Pres.-Clint Sanders, Secretary-Matthew McBride, Treas.-Rachel Hammond, Reporter-Ashley Baker.

A preview show was planned for June 25.  This will be hosted by the Jerry Wood family in Lexington.  It will be like the one last year at Newsoms.  There will be a skillathon practice, showing and grooming for both breeding and market lambs, and demonstrations on foot care and washing.  Each officer agreed on a certain part to be in charge of for that day.

There was a cookout planned for the Mid-South fair.  This will be handled by Munford FFA.  Time will be set later.

Shirts were discussed and it was agreed to let Missy Hammond take care of this.  They are going to be orange.  If you would like to order one they are going to be available June 25th at the preview show in Lexington.  The cost is not known yet.

!999 Activities
The West TN Sheep Club had its first meeting on November 7, 1998 at Cannon Farms in South Fulton, TN. This was an organizational meeting and things were discussed such as suggestions and programs for future meetings. Some of the purposes of this club are educational programs on District and Expo skillathons, showmanship, judging, and management practices.  The meeting went very well and we discussed having 4 different areas with advisors in each area. After the meeting everyone enjoyed a cookout.

The second meeting was at the Dyer County Fairgrounds in Dyersburg, March 27, 1999. The agenda for this meeting was as follows-
        Election of officers
        Designation of breed representatives
        Market Lamb selection-Bill Newsom
        Market Lamb nutrition-Tommy Cannon
        Skillathon tips-Tommy Cannon
        Refreshments
The following officers were elected-
        President-Julie Cannon
        Vice-Pres-Kim Newsom
        Sec-Treas-Erin Steelman
        Reporter-Clint Sanders

It was decided to hold a preview show somewhere in June.  Meeting adjourned.

The practice show was held on Sunday, June 27, 1999 at the Newsom farm. This was a great educational event for a big group of 4-Hers and FFA members. A showmanship skit, skillathon, fitting and feet trimming demos. Afterwards there was a cookout compliments of Dyersburg FFA. Orders were placed for our new T-shirts that Kim Newsom designed. They would be picked up at the district show in July at Union City, TN.
