I use geocities and hotmail because they have stayed constant much longer than my or my parents' physical addresses, phone numbers, or emails and sites provided by schools and employers. I expect them to continue to do so, and they should fit my very lightweight uses well-- this business card, or letting old friends find me again. The advertising shouldn't be a big deal, especially if you have FireFox or a popup blocker.
