Summary:

             This book contains a comprehensive discussion of current research and future challenges of electronic commerce.  It also discusses the interactions among the technical, business, and legal aspects of electronic commerce.  The chapter on digital currency is the most relevant to our research.  The authors explain four unique characteristics of digital currencies and discuss the differences between  a digital currency system and other forms of electronic payment systems such as the Mondex smart card payment system and e-cash system.  At the end of the chapter, the authors use a case study of CyberCash to illustrate the three main software components that facilitate the CyberCash electronic payment system.
