Sorry for crossposting. Warnings: pairs Wufei & Sally, silly, off
the cuff, Halloween special
Mulan the Pumpkin Carver
"All right guys, pick one pumpkin each," said Sally to Fei and
Mulan. "You get to carve whatever you want on it or get me and daddy
to do it."
Fei toddled over to a pumpkin that was big and round. "This one!"
Mulan had wandered over to the one that had won the prize for biggest
pumpkin in the colony. It was five hundred pounds and she could
easily fit inside of it. "I want this one. It's the only one big
enough for what I want to draw."
"We're not dragging a five hundred pound pumpkin home. It would
probably cost a couple hundred dollars. What is it that you want to
draw?" said Sally.
"I want to draw a lot of people screaming in terror like Picasso's
Guernica," replied Mulan.
"The one I'm holding now is the biggest we're getting, so get back
here!" yelled Wufei. In his arms was a thirty pound pumpkin, big and
round.
"Neh, Fei, what are you going to draw?"
"The happy rabbit," Fei said referring to a children's show character
he watched religiously.
"Happy rabbit's not scary," said Mulan.
"I don't care," said Fei.
"Jack o'lanterns are supposed to be scary. Happy rabbit isn't scary."
"It's his pumpkin, let him do what he wants," sighed Sally.
"What about me?"
"You got a big pumpkin. Just draw a smaller version of what you want
on it and I'll help carve it out."
Wufei grumbled, "Why can't you just do the usual triangle eyes and
crooked smile everybody else does?"
"That's so boring, though," said Mulan.

The neighbors looked at the pumpkins across the street at the Chang-
Po residence. One had what looked like a goofy rabbit while the
other appeared to have something that looked like the painting 'The
Scream.' "Those Chang-Po children," they said.
