Kuo Jay said correctly. The subjest "Don't buy dried food from China"
is from the local newspaper, Lao Hsieh do not read the world journal very
often, and Xiao Kang get this subject from his friends live in ROC, and
do not study the content of that information. So that confuse Mou Hsin and
Eric Cho, I think.
About the local newspaper, you read about the news happened in China.
I read the Chinese news published by world journal, SingTao, Min Bao.
SingTao compete head to head with world journal. SingTao has more readership among Canton Hua speaking Chinese Americans. I read more
on SingTao four years ago. The reason is more news on China.
Recently, the SingTao give me the background knowledge about
Canton, especially the Chao Cho(The Greatest Oversea Chinese community).
Another thing on the gb2312 and big5 code.
I find the goldern pin mushroom 金針菇 is read as 踢渀厭 on my default setting,
so I need change my View Encoding using Chinese simplified gb2312. Then I can see the
correct 中文字, with 針 simplified. 金針菜 is read as 踢渀粕.
For most our classmates, they do not know what the internal code is.
I think in the future, more gb2312 coded 中文字, the less big5 coded 中文
字.
That is my prediction. For me, that is OK. I suggest make sure the coding
and put gb2312 or big5 mark on the subject line.
Kuo Jay you sent us big5 code 中文字 manytimes. That is good.
My experience for reply and forwarding gb2312 code will cause BIG CONFUSION To your friend.
The 中文字 will be changed to ??? or other meaningless 中文字.
Hope everybody know it, then we can fly to the moon, instead losing RMB 數字

Well, I live in China and I read local newspapers, but
news like this one was seldomly revealed in the
papers. I don't think that I will be able to know
China reading local newspapers. The headliner are
news like "a father and son won 10million each in the
lottory." I guess that the "local newspapers" are
those published in the U.S., right?
