STANDARDS AND PROTOCOLS FOR INVESTIGATIONS The IGHS developed a set of standards and porotcols for conducting investigations based on common sense and experience, which establishes guidelines to ensure professionalism, and a baseline to judge photos by eliminating the common errors of most beginners and others. Ask the spirits of the dead for permission to record evps and to take their photographs. No smoking. No alcohol before, during, or after and ivestigation if still on site. No ouija boards or seances. Always conduct your investigation and yourselves in a professional manner. Respect posted property, ask permission, and do not tresspass. Do not destroy property. Do not take photos during adverse weather (rain, mist, fog, snow, windy/dusty conditions). Do not take photos from moving vehicles on dusty roads. Remove all dust, spots, fingerprints, etc. from camera lens. Avoid shooting towards shinny or reflective objects, or into the sun. Keep fingers, hair, foreign objects from the camera lens. No running or horse play. Show reverence and respect to the area, the spirits, and the owner's of the property. Always use fresh audio and video tapes. Compare prints and negatives from 35 mill photos. Focus on a 9-12 feet range when taking photos. Positive mental attitude. Try to follow lunar cycles for best results. Always use fresh batteries, and have more on hand. Always go in groups--- at least two---never go alone. Never whisper when recording. |
