The Florida College Situation

We wanted to tell you of a decision that has been made concerning the camp: We will not be inviting Florida College to be part of the camp this year. We feel that they are making some wrong decisions, and we have discussed this with FC. Change is not eminent; therefore we cannot be pleasing to God by encouraging young people to attend a college that boasts it is run by Christians, but accepts error.

The error we are referring to is FC's decision to invite men to speak at their lectures, or remain a staff member at the college, when the administration is aware that they teach error on some Biblical issues. FC's response to us was "...this is an acceptable practice, because we do not allow them to teach at FC on the subjects that they have been know to teach in error."

However, 2 John 1:10-11 says, "if there come any unto you, and bring
not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him
God speed; For he that biddeth him God speed is a partaker of his evil deeds."
We are taught in Ephesians 5:11 to "have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." Also consider Jude 3 & 2 Timothy 2:25. We should "earnestly contend
for the faith,"
correcting those who are in opposition "if God per-
adventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth."
It is our choice whether we share in the good works of the gospel or in the evil deeds of error. May our Lord strengthen each one of us to always make the right choice.

We have given this decision a lot of thought. Our staff of counselors supports our position with FC. We have spoken with other FC Camp Directors, in other states, which are also severing ties with FC. Many of you have already expressed your appreciation for the stand we have taken and for this we are grateful. This change will not affect anything about our camp except that we will not have any "FC Friends" attend. Therefore, we have invited a few young people to be with us this year, who were previous campers. They will be doing some of the same things that the Friends have done in the past.

We are still commited, as always, to providing a week long camp for children, with a wholesome, spiritual atmosphere.
