Nimrod Foster, a son of Isacc Foster, came from Monroe county about 1812 or '13 and settled on Edward Hughes farm, where John D. Groves lives. He had six sons with him - hisdaughters being married. He bought no land, but continued a tenter as long as he lived, and his sons worked for him.--He was wekly and died of consumption five or six years after he moved here. The sons were not very energetic and made slow progress towards the accumulation of this world's goods. They have all passed away.
David Miller and James Boggs, son-in-law of Nimrod Foster, and John Miller, all came from Monroe county, David Miller bought land of Capt. George Fitzwater, where John Foster, George Brown and Thomas Fitzwater now live. There he made improvements from timme to time but finally sold out and moved to Pokatalico, [sic] in Kanawha county. Boggs was a blacksmith and worked his trade on a small scale. He moved from place to place and soon deserted his wife and left the county as poor as he found it.

James Boggs, son of Frank, settled about 1810 or '12, at the Jones Mill, or where it stands, and built a small grist mill at which he used a shoot trough and tub wheel--it took but little water and ground well. Being on Muddlety creek the mill had a good custom and was profitable to the proprietor and a convienence to the people. He sold out to James Robinson, left the county, went to Elk River and the mill went down.
