Isaac NUTTER [Parents] was born 1794 in Brushy Creek, Harrison County, Virginia. He died 1862 in Indiana. Isaac married Sarah Elizabeth WEBB on 1813 in Harrison County, Virginia.
Isaac Nutter, after leaving Addis Run made his first settlement where the village of Rusk now stands. In 1844 he moved to the mouth of Gillespies Run. Isaac Nutter moved to Windfall, Tipton County, Indiana in l856 where he later died. William L. and Jane Enochs (his daughter) lived in Indianapolis. Isaac was one of the first settlers in Cairo, Ritchie Co., area. He was a Private in the War of 1812 serving for one year at the age of 18 under Captain Bozier and Colonel Webb. He returned to Nutter's Fort and married Elizabeth Webb.
Sarah Elizabeth WEBB was born 1796. She died 1856 in Indiana. Sarah married Isaac NUTTER on 1813 in Harrison County, Virginia.

John lived in (West) Virginia until he was 19 years old. He had only a few months of formal schooling. In later years, he became very knowledgeable although self taught. John traveled to Pennsylvania in 1836, to New Orleans in later 1836, then to Lawrence County, Ohio in 1837 and to Boone County, Indiana in 1849 and arrived in Tipton County, Indiana in 1841 three years before the county was organized. He was a town trustee and a county commissioner. He was instrumental in getting the first county jail erected. he wrote the first petition for a road in Wildcat Township and was appointed supervisor to oversee the cutting of the road. He served as Bailiff for the first grand jury in Tipton County. His memoirs indicate he took a government claim of 160 acres in 1841, built a log cabin and lived as a bachelor until 1845. he supported himself by hunting deer and raccoon. Jessie J. CAIN was born 1812. He died 1898 in Wood County, WV. Jessie married Margaret Magdalena NUTTER on 1837 in Rusk, Ritchie County, VA.

George Washington NUTTER [Parents] was born 1822 in Rusk, Ritchie county, VA. He died 1896 in Wisconsin. George married Eliza HALL on 1845 in Ritchie County, VA.
George served in the Civil War in Company A., 47th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry under Captain William Young, Commander. He was discharged on September 15, 1865 at Madison, Wisconsin. The only injury George sustained was that he had the heel of his boot shot off by a mini ball and the shock twisted his leg causing him to walk with a limp and use a cane. While Geoge was gone, Eliza died as the result of over work and the flu. Eliza's grandmother was English royalty and was disowned when she married a commoner.
Eliza HALL was born 1824. She died 1862. Eliza married George Washington NUTTER on 1845 in Ritchie County, VA.
William L. ENOCHS married Jane NUTTER on 1848 in Ritchie County, VA.
William was in the Civil War and was promoted to Captain in the Union Army.
