Herbert E. Fenton Jr.

Herbert E. Fenton Jr., 81, of Williamstown died May 16, 2005, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 13, 1923, in Williamstown, a son of Herbert E. and Gail Oleta Sisk Fenton. Mr. Fenton graduated from Williamstown High School and entered the U.S. Navy. He received the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. He returned to Williamstown and married Jean Adams Fenton on May 1, 1947. He worked for Fenton Art Glass Co. for 42 years mainly as a mould maker. He was a past master of Williamstown Lodge 129 AF&AM and was a past district deputy grand master of West Virginia Masonic District. He was a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Parkersburg, the Williamstown American Legion Post 159 and the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jean Adams Fenton of Williamstown, whom he married May 1, 1947, in Dart, Ohio; a son, David A. Fenton and his wife, Jennifer L.; two grandsons, Adam Fenton and wife, Jessie, and Andrew Fenton; one great-granddaughter, Maiya Danielle Fenton; a sister, Linda Stalnaker and husband, Beryl; a sister-in-law, Janet Ellis Fenton; and a brother-in-law, Glenn Kimble, all of Williamstown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale Edward Fenton, who died Feb. 9, 2001; and a sister, Dorothy Kimble who died Jan. 1, 2004.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 304 W. Fifth St., Williamstown, WV 26187.

Mr. Fenton was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Hadley Funeral Home handled the cremation arrangements.
