Hetzer
By 1943 the Czech made Panzer38(t)adopted by the Germans was obsolete. The costs both in time and money , were considered too great to restructure and retool the well established production line so the Germans decided to use the tank's chassis as a base for a new tank destroyer. The panzer 38(t) chassis and a Romanian design for the armed body and gun were combined ulitimatly to produce Hetzer, which was quick to prove it self on th battlefield.  The armor was well laid out and very thick enchanced by its very low Sillhoutte and small size.
On January 1944 a wooden mock up was made and was shown to Adolf Hitler. On March 3rd ,3 prototypes were produced. from March to April they were extensively tested while preparations for the production was made at BMM ( Prague)and Skoda (Pilsen).
The final unit was shown to Adolf Hitler on 20th april 1944 on his birthday, hitler ordered mass production to begin and it was planned to produce 1000 units per month in mid 1945.
Although the final unit was heavier than the Prototypes , maneuverability and handling was maintained with the help of a more powerful engine.
the Hetzer was well suited for its role as a tank destroyerand could easily encounter any tanks on any front. The germans even made a flammethrower modification for the Ardennes Offensive.
Between 1944 and the end of the was the Germans managed to produce 2584 units . Some units served in Hungerian army but in limited numbers. The bulk of them were used by the Germans themselves  as its unique seriveces were greatly needed.
