Wirbelwind
	WWII was the first war were air power played a major role. Each Country had to find a way to protect its stionary positions as well as their moving troops. In the first 3 years of the war die Luftwaffe ruled the skies over Europe and German army didn't focus much attention on manufacturing Self Propelled anti air unit, as they had little to worry about. In 1942 things began to change , continueus attacks on German mobile units forced the Germans to pursue seriously the design of  a better Self Propelled gun. they tried various designs , mixing different types of gun and chassis, but onlu in late 1944 they did manage to produce a truely remarkable unit. They mounted 4 anti air cannons in an open rotating turret which was mounted on a Panzer IV chassis. the result was incredible- the Wirbelwind was always combat readyand not only it was an effective anti air unitfor covering units on the go, it was also an awesome anti personnel weapon. From May to November 1944only 87 of these truely excep0tional weapons were manufactured. They were issued to Flugabwehrzug (AA Platoon) units of a Panzer division ,though they were never enough to equip all the frontline units.
