Change is bad...or is it??
by Athena
So who said change is bad? I certainly don't think so, as long as its not me having to make it.
Lately we have noticed in the WWF, that Kane has been making some HUGE changes both in the ring and out.
When I first saw he and X-Pac team up together, I have to admit, that I was skeptical. I mean, come on, we all know
that X-Pac is a little guy with a 'piss off' attitude, but how well would he actually mesh with Kane, who, up until then, was a closed person at best.
The Big Red Machine had been screwed by every person that he had ever even halfway trusted,
and now he was in tag team competition with this 'gnat???' I didn't get it.
As time went on, we see X-Pac get screwed by all his former friends, except Road Dogg.
It brought out the mothering instinct in me, seeing the poor little guy (who probably outweighs and towers over me)
to be dumped on like that. His attitude towards Kane was a breath of fresh air. "I don't care what he does or where
his head is as long as he shows up in the ring when he's supposed to!" Hmmmm....anyone else smell what
Mutt and Jeff are cookin'?
First of all, we see that X-Pac and Kane are making a habit out of backing each other up,
and we KNOW that's not normal. Then we see, slowly but surely, Kane is losing weight.
(For all the people that have WAY too much time on their hands, and not enough brain cells, NO HE IS NOT SICK!!!!
Jeez..... the guy just wants to be in better shape.) So now he's lost some weight ,
he's doing some different moves, and there are looking very smooth.
2) He and X-Pac have really started to gel as a team and it's starting to spill over to backstage stuff too.
When was the last time that you saw anyone give two shits about what Kane thought? I think people were surprised
that he
can even THINK, and those are the same people with too much time and too little
gray matter.
Well, Kane now has taken the next step. He has begun changing his ring attire.
First it was a different mask
here and there, gradually expanding to an entirely different outfit for Summerslam 1999. Whether you like the outfit, or not,
or have no opinion of it at all, you have to admit that this guy is doing things that he never has before.
He has begun to think for himself, and make his personality known. No longer is he a tool to be used by whichever
superstar wants to get ahead. He is thinking and acting by himself.
Or is he?
Lets take a moment to think here. Why exactly IS Kane making all these changes
inside and out?
Could it be-gasp!-because he finally has the unconditional love and support of a true friend? And why not?
He and X-Pac have developed their relationship into much more than the 'if he shows up' attitude,
that was prevalent in the beginning. They have become friends, confidants, and dare I say, buddies.
So now that X-Pac is feeling like he is holding Kane back because of his diminutive size, it seems like a
really good thing might come to an end....but then again, it might not.
Take a moment and think about this...if X-Pac wants to get out of Kane's way,
wouldn't this be the perfect opportunity
for Kane to actually switch roles and be the main support in this friendship?
I think this will be a make or break situation for them, and I for one, think it will make them.
