Single Player 9/10 Overview The SP is a step up from Spearhead's, but no where near AA's calibre. The levels are more innovative, the AI is greatly improved from Spearhead's, the rifles stronger, the friendly AI friendlier. Gameplay 8/10 Finally, EA has adjusted the rifles to realistic power, but realistic power is a double edged sword, even on easy a shot from an unseen rifleman could take out half of your health. The Enemy AI no longer rushes you, it's now possible to spend long amounts of time at a stand off. I was on a capsized ship, surrounded by enemies, with one HP, I used my rifle to quickly shoot and then I would duck back down, this went on for about five minutes, then they started throwing grenades, two grenades flew past my head I ducked down and managed to escape the blast, I returned to picking off soldiers until I was absolutely positive I got every last enemy. The Friendly AI is now more helpful, they shoot at people who shoot at you, and when I was low on ammo I was able to draw out the enemy so the Friendly could attack them. Another improved element is the fact that you're no longer forced to always play baby sitter with the Friendly AI, depending on the level the AI can either take care of itself or has infinite health, of course there are a few levels where the object is to cover Friendlies, but not as many as in previous MoH games. Sound 7/10 The music isn't bad, but it doesn't come near Allied Assault's calibre. You sound effects are basically the same as previous MoH games, not bad, but not the most realistic. Replayability ?/10 Like all MoH games, you'll always have one level you like to play again and again, so I can't really rate this as it'll differ from person to person. Multiplayer 8/10 The levels are bigger, more innovative, and great if you like to sneak up on people. Cons The draw back is the fact that unlike Spearhead, Breakthrough doesn't really offer anything new besides maps and a few guns, no new allied skins, just four Italian skins. Not much when you consider Spearhead brought us primary weapon bashing, grenade cooking, portable MGs, and smoke grenades. All-in-all I'd recommend this to fans of the Medal of Honor series, and people who are trying to decide between Spearhead or Breakthrough, but if you own Spearhead and you're not a big fan of the SP this isn't an essential buy. |
