In silent memory of those who suffer from the effects of alcoholism.
"Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon A. A. unity."

When I find that I do not like something that is going on in a particular group, I need to ask myself is it me or is there something really wrong?  Usually the culprit is my dislike for something or someone within the group.  This is where most of us get the first taste of compromise for the common good of the group.  If an A. A. group is torn over some issue, then the whole group suffers.

We alcoholics as a group stand as the only shelter in the storm; providing a safe haven for those who still suffer.  As recovering alcoholics, we must rely upon the group…each other, for our very lives.  The group must continue so others may find their way to sanity and sobriety or back from the abyss of alcoholism.

The First Tradition is about trust.  The First Tradition is about acceptance.  The First Tradition is about Unity.
