My story begins in a nice, little town tucked way in the countryside of Northeast Pennsylvania called Stillwater. One nice thing about living in the country was the nice open yard to play in. After being exposed to the many wonders of Mother Nature, I quickly because interested in the field of science. One area, in particular, that I loved was weather. It was always fun to keep track of the high temperature on hot days, watch the 'Weather Channel' in anticipation of a snow storm, even watch the lightning in a severe thunderstom. When the time came to pick a major for college, I decided to pick something that I enjoyed, weather! The thing that worried me, was that I didn't know the first thing about forecasting. Sure, I looked at weather maps before, but I never could make a forecast for, say 3 days in the future. 'But how hard could it be?', I asked myself....I was about to find out. I enrolled in one of the top Meteorology Colleges in the USA, Penn State University. I came into college thinking I had a good idea what I was in for...the truth was, I didn't have a clue! There's more to being a Meteorologist than just guessing, it's a highly-complicated science composed of Calculus, Physics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics. One great coinsidence that college brought, was running into my future wife. Yes, I met my fiance, Marni, at my bowling class in my second semester. Fate can be a strange thing sometimes... With incredible support from my parents and my fiance, I managed to get through the perils of college study and then was ready to get a job. Easy, right? Well, not really. After applying to numerous areas along the East Coast, and getting the smae response from them all, "No experience, no thanks." I expanded out to the Midwest and was 'gobbled up' by a stationed called, KMEG-TV from Sioux City, IA. They were quite interested in me and let me start immediately. That's where I am today, on air at least two nights a week, forecasting the weather. And after 7 months of it I must say, "I love it!." Very few people can honestly say that they found the perfect job right away, but I'm one of them. There's much more come to: Marni and I will be married in 2002 and then who knows? The possibilities are limitless! |
