We have been racked with injuries this year that has put at least four of our better athletes out of comission. Randy Cox, Caleb Fisher, Coyt Chandler, and Lee Jones.
Add to that fact that, we lost our only senior player to grades last 6-wks, and you can tell that we are struggling just to put a full team on the mats right now. We are trying to pull together a team with younger players, but the experience and leadership that we were counting on this year are gone. I hope that next year will be more promising.
We do have some good young talent. Nick Seaton has worked really hard and is performing well. We got Ryan Olson, Justin Lowery and Paul Smith back after they passed last 6-wks, but all 3 of these talented wrestlers are in the same weight group. Move-in Bryan Woning is also promising to help us at the 140 weight class. So there are some bright spots.
We have 3 more weeks 'till district. Our whole team needs to get focussed on what it takes to advance. The time we spend training right now will tell the tale on whether we will be successful this year or not. |
