DALLAS Despite having five wrestlers out with illness, Wylie's wrestling team traveled to First Baptist Academy for a five-way meet last Saturday and returned home with a third place team trophy in the competition.

Three wrestlers captured first place finishes in the competition including Blake Guinta who won all four of his matches in the 130-weight classification.

Daniel Morgeson, wrestling in the 135-weight class, also won first place with a 3-1 overall finish while Joe Poovey captured a first place tie with Brent Carr from Arlington Heights in the 215-weight class with a 3-1 record.

"Our team came away with a third place in spite of spotting every team 30-points from the start," Coach Danny Blankenship said. "I'm really proud of the dedication to our program that the boys are showing this year. We have quite a few young people on our team who are making a great showing."

Two other wrestlers capture second place in their weight classes including Andrew Murphy in the 125-weight class and Stephen Dethloff in the 152-weight category.

Four wrestlers brought home third place finishes in the meet including Nick Seaton in the 103-weight class, Keith Loughry in the 112-weight class, Jack London in the 145-weight class and Austin Shields in the 160-weight class.

Tyler Whitecotton, wrestling in his first meet, finished strong in the 171-weight class finishing with a 1-3 record.

Wylie finished with 130-points in the meet.

This week the team will compete against Hebron, Woodrow Wilson and Molina on Saturday.
