Progress Review Meetings

What Are Progress Review Meeting ?
A Progress Review Meeting is any meeting that takes place between a manager and an individual member of the team. This ranges from an Informal discussion at the work place through to a formal one to one meeting in private. This site deals with the more formal type of meeting. However , many of the Principles outllined apply to informal meetings . The key to good Performance management is immediacy : so don't store up incident fro the fromal meeting. Give your feedback then and there , and then use the meeting to review the incident and learn from it.
What do I do ?
The following describes the steps for an effective meeting . It May be a good idea to use these steps as a tick list for the frist few meetings.
Don't expect to become an expert overnight, as with most people skills, you need to practice. The Important thing is to try, you will get a lot of satisfaction from helping your people to improve
What do I need to do before the meeting ?
Review your notes from your previosu meeting
  Include any observations made since the meeting
Ensure that you have completed your agreed actions from your last meeting
  this really important because you are the role model fro future actions by      your people : if you come up with lost of reasons for not doing it; Sop will   they

Make a list of the items for discussion
  consider the order of the items and how you are going to tackle each one
  and what you are going to tackle each one and what your preferred
  outcome for each item would be
Make sure that the  environment is right
  Ensure the room will be priovate and you will not be interrupted . Arrange    the seating so you don't have things between you an the other person -
  a desk, for example . Its a good idea to sit beside each other  
Adopt a positive style for your meeting plan and stick to it - Think about the following before you hold your meeting .

Consistent - each of your team should experience a similiar type of meeting each time you meet
