| I retired from my career in the legal field in 1980 and began exploring my artistic talents in earnest when my family and I moved to the Sierra Mountain region of North Central California. Later that year we moved to Central Missouri where I attended classes studying under several of the prominent artists in the area and through the University of Missouri in Columbia. Though born in the Central part of the United States, I've lived in twelve different states and have traveled the United States extensively. My travels have produced a vast array of photographs, subjects and experiences just waiting for me to commit them to canvas. I strive to impart an aesthetic work of art delivering a tranquil, peaceful setting in my paintings and feel that my art captures the emotional essence of the subject as well as its true likeness. I've received over 37 awards for my work which can be found in private collections and galleries from coast to coast. I have had one calendar published featuring my art by the Lee County Bank & Trust N.A. in Fort Madison, Iowa for the year 1999. In 1982, while living in Central Missouri, I was urged by friends to start teaching art classes. Within three years, I was instructing 54 students during six classes a week at Danne's Picture Show and Frame Shoppe in Eldon, Missouri. I'm a teacher at heart and delight in the progress and accomplishments of my students as they began to show their own work, and win ribbons under my tutelage. My emphasis in the classroom is on perspective, color and brush technique. I especially enjoy using light and shadow to imply the presence of an object not seen in the actual painting. From 1992 to 1999 I taught beginners and intermediates how to paint in Oils through extension courses offered by Southern Community College in Burlington, Iowa in addition to the private sessions and classes I conduct at my Studio, The Wynnmill Studio of Fine Art, in Fort Madison, Iowa. Most of my time now is spent painting commissioned works and classes.
