Our Mission

John Duncan's 'Alcestis'

There arises sometimes in an individual an interesting condition when one is able to live physically in one world but mentally "travel," or rather co-exist, in others. When ethereal experiences and senses prove to be more real and resounding than the earthly place that you quite clearly set your feet on every single day it begins to make you wonder. The faculties of the human mind at first dismiss such observations and write them off as foolishness, signs of madness, or an overly active imagination. But for some, as times goes on, they cannot help but notice a correlation of extraordinary events and heightened senses of these experiences that fit too well into what the rules of logic and common sense in terms of their correlation to each other but not their relation in nature to the mundane, "real" world. A point in time eventually comes where those who are prone to such sensitivities must either choose them as worthy and important of the term "reality" or dismiss them completely.

For those who choose this path after the emergence of such a choice and do not shy away from it from either fear or safeness, there are measures of both good and bad that will come to them. Such a path is not easy and also viewed my many others not to be safe. There is sometimes the occurrence of ecstacy, the occurrence of fear, and the experience of a million different things that can never be named to the human ear.

There are no resources for such a life, no handbook, no support groups, no road signs. Nothing but the strength you must find within yourself to go on and discover the limits of the outside world and the boundaries you establish from your experience and learning of your own limits. But for those who do, the path forward is frequently lonely and difficult as a result of such solitude. Sanity is at least periodically questioned, definition of reality challenged, and what is "normal" is continuously redefined as what you learn expands and grows.

There is perhaps an unwritten rule that those who are in between here do not speak of being in between to each other let alone to those that do not perceive it. There are obvious ramifications set in place in this world that have come about through the past reorganization of it and society's denial of magick. Whether it be ostracization, commitment, fear from others, persecution, or the labeling of "insane" or "crazy" or "whack job," there are many names that have arisen.

But why should this stop those who understand the reality of in between from discussing it solely amongst themselves?

To discuss openly the reality of such an existence is risky and can be dangerous, and with good measure in that. The social and medical stigmas associated with "other realities" aside, there is sometimes the problem of those who are not capable of handling this kind of information becoming aware of it and being damaged as a result because of the nature of said information. As a result of this, nothing on this website will refer to specific people, places, or things. This is not an instructional site, and not a site intended to teach people to exist in between If you come to it you have attained it by your own merit and strength, not the assistance of others.

Rather, what we are concerned with here is the state of those that are in between . To say that such an existence is grueling much of the time is perhaps an understatement. The tolls that are placed on individuals to deal with what is more than demanding in and of itself and the weight of everyday mundane life placed on top of that and then in the face of that "normal" life can be very hard at times. The hope here is by promoting discussion of said existence among those who understand will we hope promote a better way of living in between while also in this earthly reality.

The revealing of such a life is based first and foremost on the perception and belief of such an individual. Nothing can be understood unless it is perceived, and likewise nothing can be deemed as being part of reality unless it is perceived. As a blind man is devoid of the experience of sight, colors and visual shapes--these things do not exist for them, but they do for those with regular sight. Likewise, those who are not capable of feeling in between do not consider what some claim to perceive as a reality--but this does not stop it from being a reality for those who are capable of perceiving it.

What is to be found on the following pages is a collection of writings from individuals who are in between and are willing to share their experiences, advice, and knowledge about such a state to other fellow people in hopes of education, growth, and a more open acknowledgement of said state.

Please, read on.
