When ex-Soundgarden vocalist and three former Rage Against The Machine members decided to be in a band called Civillain the rock world was excited. Civillian was amde up of rock group Soundgarden's ex-vocalist Chris Cornell and Tim, Tom, and Brad from rap-rock extreme Rage Against The Machine. When Rage frontman Zach de la Rocha left the band the remaining members ound Chris Cornell who soon formed Civillian. In March 2002 Chris Cornell quit the project and the "Supergroup" was called off. In September 2002 Cornell announced he would re-join with the former Rage Against The Machine members. Civillian was renamed Audioslave and were back in the studio recording. Audioslave was forced to pay $50,000 to share the name Audioslave with a U.K. band of that same name. They also recorded with Multi-Platinum rapper DMX. Cornell wrote an extra song for DMX too. By November Audioslave was done recording and released thier first single "Cochise." The song is named after an Apache Indian chief. The video feautures many fireworks. During the shooting local Police and News Stations phoned in thinking the city was under attack. Audioslave's debut album "Audioslave" debuted at number seven on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart outselling Missy Elliott, Avril Lavigne, and Eminem. Audioslave's second single was "Like A Stone." The song is slower, medolic song. It was a huge hit on rock radio, and was highly requested on rock stations. It did very well on the Modern Rock chart, and topped the Mainstream Rock. It also increased "Audioslave's" sales a lot. Zach de la Rocha is currently recording his debut solo album with DJ Muggs, Dan The Audomator, ?uestlove of The Roots, and El-P of Company Flow. Audioslave will tour on the Lollapoloza Tour this summer with Janes Addiction, Incubus, Queens Of The Stone Age, and Jurrasic 5.
