Rage Against The Machine
At the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, Rage's latest effort "Sleep Now In The Fire" was nominated for Best Rock Video. When the video lost out to Limp Bizkit for "Rollin'," bassist Tim Commerford, ran up to the stage, and climbed the set. He stayed a top the fifteen foot Statue Of Liberty for almost twenty minutes. While Limp Bizkit was receiving the award, and doing thier thank you's, MTV staff were trying to lure Tim down. he was arrested and a day later was released. He was arrested along with security guard Big Pete Beattle, who was released with Tim, on charges of Obstruction Of Justice. On October 18 2000 Zack announced he would be leaving Rage Against The Machine. He blamed the groups inability to work collectively, caused Zack to leave. He decided to work harder on his solo album. The rest of the group decided to stick together, and start a new band. The groups last studio album "Renagades," was a cover album. They covered songs by Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones, EPMD, Cypress Hill, Bob Dylan, Erik B. and Rakim, Devo, The Stooges, Minor Threat, Afrika Bamaataa, MC5, and Volume 10. Two of the songs (Ghost Of Tom Joed, and the hit Renagades of Funk had videos released.) The album sold 151,000 to debut at #14. In 2001 rumours were spreading that the three remaining Rage members were recording with ex-Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell. After first denying the rumors, they hit the studio. The group was then announced to play the Ozz-Fest tour with Rob Zombie, System Of A Down, Adema, Drownign Pool, P.O.D., Black Label Society, and Ozzy on the Ozz-Fest tour. Soon Chris announced he quit the project. Six months later it was announed the "super group" was recording again. In November the album was released. The new group was called Audioslave. The band quickly rose to the top of rock charts with three smash singles "Like A Stone," "Cochise," and "Show Me How To Live." Zack  still hasen't released his solo album yet. The album is supposed to have collaberations with ?uestlove of The Roots, DJ Shadow, Roni Size, and Dan "The Automator" Nakamura. Since then Rage has only be heard on the "Matrix Reloaded" Soundtrack with "Calm Like A Bomb," from "The Battle Of Los Angelos." Rob Zombie, and Marylin Manson, again have songs on The Matrix Soundtrack. P.O.D., Linkin Park, The Deftones, Unolco, Team Sleep, and others appear on the soundtrack.
