Curt Kobain wanted to be a small town band but became massive and pressured into suicide. Many bands have put up with a lot. The Used have had that too. Frontman Bert MacCracken has suffered drug-abuse. Members have been through being homeless. Bert's drug abuse is a part of thier carefully written songs. They deal with pain, friendship, hearthbreak. What average rock bands write about. The Used broke out in 2002. The band started playing at Ozz-Fest 2002. Ozzy, P.O.D., Rob Zombie, Drowning Pool, Adema, Zakke Wylde's Black Label Society, and System Of A Down on main stage. The Used were on the second stage with Hatebreed, Down, Chevelle, Flaw, Soil, Meshuggah, Lost Prophets, The Apex Theory, Glassjaw, Ill Nino, 3rd Strike, Seether, Otep, Switched, Pulse Ultra, and Neurotica. The Used also took part in the Warped Tour 2002. New Found Glory, NOFX, TRUSTcomany, Bad Religon, MXPX, Good Charllote, No Use For A Name, Reel Big Fish, Something Corperate, Simple Plan, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Ozma, Flogging Molly, Hot Water Music, and others toured with the years biggest punk, and hardcore tour. The bands first single was "Box Full Of Sharp Objects." The song is a hard rock, Deftones song. It started getting regonition from MTV. They toured with Blink 182 side prject Box Car Racer. The next single The Used released was "The Taste Of Ink." The video picked up high rotation on MTV. In January 2003 The Used took part in MTV's TRL Spankin New Bands Week. The Donnas, Simple Plan, New Found Glory, and Good Charllote participated also. The two songs got thier debute album "The Used" to debute at #63 on Billboard Top 200. "The Taste Of Ink" did good on the Billboard Modern Rock Charts too. The third single was "Buried Myself Alive" which is currently climbimg charts. Bert used to be dating Ozzy Osbourne's daughter Kelly Osbourne who he met at Ozz-Fest.
