"The Spectacle is a drug for slaves. It is not supposed to be taken literally, but followed at just a few steps distance; if it were not for this albeit tiny distance, the mystification would become apparent." Iff taken into consideration when listening to aura[l] stimulus then the ‘experience’ can be considered to be unmediated and not of a ‘Spectacular’ nature. The need for mediation comes about when there is a lack of experiential trust in ones own interpretation of a given situation. The listening ‘experience’ is just that, it is real time interpretation of a set of stimuli that goes beyond the intentions of the ‘artist’. The ‘audience’ [the act of listening] brings subjectivity and individual associations to the experience, as close as possible to an unmediated state, {you if fact mediate you’re self}. These associations are of a highly personal nature, rarely on a literal level, and form the basis of any interpretation of the ‘experience’. To limit these to a mere duality of understanding denies the audience’s personal interpretation of any given situation. Is it better to be the slave of mediation or the master of your senses? Untitled
