Series Title: San Francisco
Chapter Title: California Dreamin'

Rated: I'd say NC-17 at least toward the end anyway LOL.
Disclaimer: All credit to CC and Co. As always.

Notes: Scully's 'history' lesson to Mulder on Haight and Ashbury
Streets isn't mine. I stole it from The New York Times travel
website. At least I did some research. *Innocent stare*

This chapter is fairly fluffy. I just wanted to see them settle in
and have a little happiness before the story really starts to
unfold. I wasn't happy with the way the x-files ended and in my
mind this is sort of shaping up to be a virtual season of my own
brand. *shrugs* Who knows. We'll see.

On with the show.

Sittin' in the mornin' sun,
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' come.
Watching the ships roll in,
Then I'll watch 'em roll away again.

Yeah, I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay,
Watching the tide roll away.
Ooh, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the day,
Wastin' time.

"What do you think Scully?"

"I thought we agreed to go easy on the cash."

"Never mind the cash just take a look around."

He tugged her along through the last minute place he'd checked out
on their previous visit. She had been busy at the San Francisco
Field Office meeting and greeting her new colleagues. She had
figured it would be wise to be prepared before starting her new
position.

Currently she still had one month to go before returning to work.
He knew she would love this place. He had made all the arrangements
and all that had been left to do was sign the lease and pick up the
keys. Scully had thought they agreed on a smaller apartment further
out of the central part of the city. Mulder had wanted to surprise
her. He wanted the convenience of being able to walk out his front
door onto city streets filled with cafes, restaurants, theatres and
the like. He liked the thought of being able to drag her off on a
completely impulsive whim to explore and get to know their new home
intimately. He didn't have cases and investigations to keep her
interested anymore. He had only himself, aided by the incredible
city they now inhabited.

He stopped at the large immaculate bathroom. "Look Scully a spa
bath. Think of all the potions you can cook up in there with all
those little girlie bottles I know you had stashed in your bathroom
back in D.C."

"It's mine tonight, with a bottle of red."

"I think that can be arranged."

"You could always join me Mulder."

"You wanna christen the tub?"

"Do you have to take the romance out of everything?"

"You've never been a romantic Scully."

"How do you know?"

"You're too practical for that. You don't like receiving flowers
too often because they only end up dying a few days later. You
don't like to base the value of your relationships on 'shiny
treasures'. I imagine you find the whole dating routine tedious.
You prefer someone to take you somewhere unexpected. Wining and
dining on the odd occasion can be fun but hitting an ice skating
rink or checking out a street carnival or even Para-Gliding is more
in line with your tastes. So don't try and fool me Scully. I know
you'd take hot sex in a tub over romance any day of the week."

She was attempting to look stern and failing miserably.

"How long have you been turning your spooky powers of perception
on me?"

"Since March nineteen ninety two and I've always liked what I've
seen."

"Pfff don't give me that. You couldn't stand me. If I remember
correctly you were a complete smart ass."

"Yeah but you stayed."

"Yes. I did."

"Why?"

"You know why Mulder. You were there you know the story."

"Yes but I want to hear you tell it."

"I believed in you I still do."

"You can't think of any other reason that may have compelled you
to stay?"

Her mouth twitched into a smile. She knew what he wanted to hear.
He wanted to hear what they had yet to say to each other. There was
no need to hesitate. She knew how Mulder felt. "I stay because I
love you."

"And I hold you hostage in a beautiful apartment in a magical city
because I love you." His hand reached out to cup the back of her
neck and he drew her toward him for a lingering kiss. Over the last
three weeks they had barely managed to fit their newfound intimacy
in with their hectic arrangements and mountains of loose ends to
tie up. Most nights they had fallen into bed absolutely exhausted.
Making love had been sweet on the odd occasion but they were simply
too tired to attempt the sexual gymnastics all new lovers
experimented in. This was another aspect of getting settled Mulder
couldn't wait to tackle. He could count on one hand the amount of
times they had made love so far. Each and every time he had been
amazed by her small compact body. All sexual innuendo aside Scully
was quite a small woman and he was quite a large man, in more ways
than one. The fit was so snug between his length and girth and her
small interior that sometimes he was loathe to move when he was
completely embedded. He loved being able to engulf her with the
size of his frame and have her engulf him with her unbearably tight
inner muscles. Before their relationship had progressed from
platonic adulation he had occasionally fantasized about her. It
wasn't something that he had felt comfortable doing all the time.
First and foremost she had been his partner, he had no intentions
of changing that, at least not at that point in time. Now days he
found himself fantasizing about her a lot; a few brief tastes of
her body had sent his imagination into overdrive. He had seven
years of catching up to do and he could barely wait to get started.

"Lets go check out the bedroom." This was growled against her neck
before he nipped at the tender flesh with his teeth. "You'll like
the bedroom trust me."
.
Her head tilted to the side to allow him better access.

"But we've got so much to do. We've got to get the rest of our
luggage from the car and then we have to do some shopping; we've
got no food in the place. It's still early enough for us to look
around for a car. Renting a car is too expensive we're going to
have to return it soon. Oh and we can't forget to-."

"Shut up Scully."

His mouth sealed over hers again and his hands slid down to give
her ass a firm squeeze. She moaned into his mouth then pushed him
away.

"We can christen the whole place later. Let's just get everything
done first."

Why did she have to be so damn practical?

"The whole place? Tonight? I'm going to hold you to that."

"When do I ever go against my word?"

"Never, that's what I like about you Scully."

"Good, now get those little legs moving Mulder."

She had been waiting for an opportunity to throw that often used
comment back in his face. She shot him a smug smile then breezed
out of the bathroom leaving a sweet trail of her perfume behind her.

Mulder simply trailed along behind Scully down the supermarket
aisles. His duty was to push the cart and stay out of trouble. He
felt the incredible urge to whine. He was bored. He wanted to have
some fun.

"Look Scully microwave popcorn."

"Too much butter and salt."

"Sculleeee."

Her eyes darted around the fairly empty aisle. "Mulder don't you
dare whine. You're worse than a child sometimes."

"Look Scully Mac n Cheese."

"Get whatever you want Mulder just don't whine."

He didn't really want either. He just wanted to ditch their plans
for the day and leave them for tomorrow. It was their first day in
San Francisco. He wasn't all that familiar with the city and he
wanted to explore.

He snatched her purse from the quarter full cart and began
marching for the exit.

"Mulder!"

"Mulder where are you going?"

He kept on walking.

Eventually he was out the door with her hot on his heels.

"Mulder are you feeling okay?"

She was concerned now; just like she had been a million times
before.

"It all begins right here."

"What begins?"

"The adventure." He handed her purse back to her.

"Leave the chores for tomorrow. It's our first day here, let's go
play."

"Mulder! I can't believe you!" She began to turn back toward the
supermarket but his arm shot out to snag her waist before she took
a second step.

"Leave it please. Come with me."

"Mulder we have plenty of time for that later-."

"But this is more important to me."

She studied him briefly. His eyes were soft and his smile was
inviting. Mulder was the kind of person who always wanted to eat
desert before dinner. He wasn't happy with the natural order of
things. He wasn't happy to settle in first and then have his fun.
She should have seen it coming. She knew him well enough by now.

"Okay Mulder where do you want to go?"

"I want you to show me this city. I want you to show me why you
love it."

"Okay.. But it's been a long time. I was just a kid."

"Even better."

They were strolling along the waterfront side by side. Her hand
had slipped into his half an hour earlier and they hadn't parted
once throughout their lazy wanderings.

"Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 and Ghirardelli Square, cover about
half a dozen blocks along the waterfront, they constitute much of
the stereotypical San Francisco image. They're probably the most
common places to visit if you're a tourist but I still love them
all the same."

"Keep talking Scully you make a great guide."

"These places are very popular, and most people feel they haven't
visited San Francisco unless they've seen them. Keep in mind that
this tourist haven bears little resemblance to the rest of the
city. I just wanted to bring you here because it's the done thing
to do."

"You've sold me. I love the place already."

"Don't be such a tourist Mulder. You live here now."

"Tell me more Scully. Tell me about Haight, give me a history
lesson."

"Mulder you know all about it you're not fooling me."

"Humor me, I'm enjoying this. I'm enjoying you."

Her smile was small but he caught it.

"On October 6, 1967, hippies took over the intersection of Haight
and Ashbury streets to proclaim the 'Death of Hip'."

"Dazzle me with your tale."

"If they thought hip was dead then, they'd find absolute
confirmation of it today, what with the Gap holding court on one
quadrant of the famed corner. Everyone knows the Summer of Love had
something to do with free love and LSD, but the drugs and other
excesses of that period have tended to obscure the residents'
serious attempts to create an America more spiritually oriented,
more environmentally aware, and less caught up in commercialism."

"Tell me about it."

"The Diggers, a radical group of actors and populist agitators,
operated a free shop a few blocks off Haight Street. Everything
really was free at the free shop; people brought in things they
didn't need and took things they did. The Diggers including a young
Peter Coyote also distributed free food in Golden Gate Park every
day. Among the folks who hung out in or near Haight during the late
1960s were writers Richard Brautigan, Allen Ginsberg, Ken Kesey,
and Gary Snyder; anarchist Abbie Hoffman; rock performers Marty
Balin, Jerry Garcia, Janis Joplin, and Grace Slick; LSD champion
Timothy Leary; and filmmaker Kenneth Anger."

"Scully."

"What?"

"Marry Me?"

"Been there done that."

"Well then let's go to that famous intersection."

"Mulder we've been exploring for hours. Can we at least do a bit
of shopping? We really need things for the apartment. We've got
nothing."

They really had been exploring for hours. Scully was utterly
charming when speaking passionately about something she obviously
held dear. He was caught up in the feel of finally being free.
There were no pressing matters right now. He knew she wanted to get
properly settled but supermarkets stayed open late and he just
wanted another hour or two of her and their freedom all to himself.

"Okay but I saw lobsters in a tank in a window back there. Lets
stop for dinner first. We'll get a seafood platter."

He watched as Scully's eyes lit up. It didn't matter how many
salads and bee pollen yogurts she choked down, he knew Scully was a
sucker for good food.

He was standing on the edge of a forest. It seemed odd to be able
to see the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. He felt so far
removed from civilization that the bridge stuck out like a sore
thumb. He heard the tinkling of warm female laughter and turned
toward it.

What he found before his eyes shocked the hell out of him.

An antique four post bed stood just behind the tree line in a
small clearing. Two women were stretched out on top of the white
bed covers resting on their sides and facing each other. Apart from
the difference in hair color they were completely alike. Mulder
realized with a start that the two petite and completely naked
forest nymphs were Scully and Charlie.

He walked toward them and stopped once he reached the foot of the
bed. It was then that he realized he was also naked. Oddly this did
not bother him. Everything felt so wonderful, so natural. He
watched as the identical beauties mimicked each other's soft
caresses. Each had a hand on the other's breast, eagerly taunting
their nipples into firm dusky pink tips. Their breasts audibly
called to him. He heard the stirrings of a faint tune on the
breeze. It seemed to be Enya or something similar. He would have
laughed if it hadn't been for the sight before him.

Charlie had reversed her position; her lower half was now in line
with Scully's face and her face was in line with Scully's lower
half. They rolled so Scully was on her back with Charlie's knees
either side of her head. Charlie's breasts were pressed against
Scully's lower stomach and her face made its way between her two
slender thighs. Scully's arms circled around Charlie's upper thighs
and she gently pulled her down to meet her questing mouth.

This was beyond any pornographic fantasy he'd ever had. This was
fucking awesome.

As Scully and her clone writhed against each other wantonly he
reached down to grip his inflamed flesh. Charlie's hands held
Scully spread wide open and her mouth devoured the sensitive flesh
almost as if she were enjoying a sweet perfectly ripe mango. He
watched as Scully's pelvis shuddered mightily beneath Charlie's
ministrations. Charlie was equally aroused and didn't hold back on
the grinding motions she made against Scully's buried face.

He could feel a small firm ass pressed against his straining
erection. Where had that come from? The image of the two women
making identical love vanished as his eyes popped open to greet the
first rays of the sun playing over the fog shrouded bridge.
Sometimes you just had to stop and enjoy the small moments. A man
like Mulder could never be sure how many more mornings he had to
wake up with a huge hard on buried between the juncture of a
beautiful ass and silky upper thighs. The sleepy voice he
associated with whisky and cigarettes even though she consumed
neither made its amused way to his ear.

"You're insatiable, has anyone ever told you that?"

"No one's complained so far."

"You must have been having a pretty intense dream."

"Mmmm."

He pushed forward with his hips to create a little friction
against his highly strung flesh not anticipating the agonizingly
sweet slide of the head of his cock through her slippery folds. She
was completely saturated and as horny as an alley cat. "Jesus
Scully." He managed to force that out through a locked jaw and
clenched teeth. Had listening to and feeling him in the throes of
slumbering desire turned her on that much? She didn't bother to
express herself verbally, instead she undulated her hips so his
length rubbed against her sensitive flesh. Message received loud
and clear. He slid a hand down her front and between her thighs to
hold one leg up and away from her body. With a few wriggles and
experimental pokes he found the tip of himself poised at the foot
of a stairway to his own personal heaven. With a deep slide forward
he was completely inside the almost unbearable grip of her body.
Her groan mingled with his in the quiet of their dim bedroom.

He had a feeling Scully loved that first plunge as much as he did.
He'd often imagined how it felt for a woman to be filled by a man.
He imagined the intimacy of the act was more intense for a woman.
It was the female who invited and accepted the man inside of her.
He had a feeling not that many men had been granted such a
privilege by her. Scully wouldn't share this kind of intimacy with
just anyone. He knew her enough to know it wasn't her style. Ed
Jerse had shocked the hell out of him, but he wasn't stupid. That
night Scully had a motivation that went way beyond the desire for a
one night stand. He knew what she had set out to accomplish. She
may as well have rented out a billboard that said FUCK YOU MULDER.
She was a desirable woman, she had to have known that throwing
herself at a complete stranger all the while holding herself back
from him would be exactly like waving a bright red cape in front of
a very pissed off bull. He knew he'd spend the rest of his life
trying to pound the memories of every other man out of her body
until only he remained.

"Stop torturing me. Move damnit."

He pulled back only a little and slid back home.

"Mulllderrr. You're so mean."

As he laughed he slid an arm beneath her and an arm around her.
Making sure to keep himself buried safely inside, he rolled onto
his back bringing her around with him. He stretched out on the
mattress and took the length and weight of her body against his.
This was new they hadn't tried this yet.

"Keep your back against me but support your lower half with your
legs."

She complied and planted her feet flat on the bed either side of
his calves and elevated her lower half a couple of inches above
him. His hands circled her hips and he fell into an easy rhythm
beneath her. It was difficult to maintain this position with some
women without them also supporting their upper body with arms
braced either side of them against the mattress. Scully was so
small and so light that her weight against his chest didn't bother
him in the slightest.

One hand slid from her hip to slide two fingers against the erect
little nub of electricity hidden behind her lust swollen flesh.
"Mmm yeah I like this Mulder."
He increased the pace and force of his well timed beat. She
gasped. "I definitely like this." They both watched the sun break
over the bridge and flood the room with newborn light. The dam
broke and her sobs of pleasure flooded his senses.
He followed her over the edge with visions of a forest filled with
sunlight and two women making love to each other flashing through
his mind.

When he finally came to himself it was to find her still sprawled
over him with his satisfied cock sheathed inside her now bathed
interior. He played with her body for awhile, molding her flesh
into shapes with cupped hands then releasing his grip to move on to
a new patch of skin. They both laughed as he turned the inside of
her elbow into an ass.

"You have a great ass you know that?"

"You come with some nice accessories too."

"Flashlight and gun not included. You've got to buy those
separately."

"Oh I don't know about the flash light. I think that's included in
the package."

She squeezed her muscles down around his softening post orgasmic
erection.

He laughed delightedly.

"You're an evil woman Scully."

"You know you don't have to call me Scully anymore."

She was Scully. She would always be Scully.

"Dana." He tested it out. He shook his head. It was almost foreign
to his tongue.

"Scully." That one name, those two syllables brought a myriad of
images to mind. *click* Waking up in random hospitals over the
years with only one word, one name on his mind; Scully. *click*
Seeing that familiar figure making its way toward him through
countless rooms, crime scenes and open spaces; Scully. *click*
Getting to where he needed to be if he wanted any chance of
ensuring her survival; Scully *click* Making love to her in a hotel
room overlooking New York City; Scully. *click*

He snapped back into focus. "You're Scully. You're my Scully."

"Scully it is."

BIG AL'S BITCHIN USED CARS

Mulder was in heaven. They had quite a selection of cars to choose
from. He wanted Scully in a kick ass speedy little number. She saw
herself in something a little more practical but Mulder was in full
winded nagging glory.

"Scully I can see you in that yellow Mazda RX-7. It's a nineteen
ninety five model. It's five years old. We'll beat him down on the
price a little of course. C'mon Scully it's a hot car."

"Mulder we're not here to buy a hot car-."

"Look I swear I'll buy a mini van if you want but you have got to
get this car. Check out the stereo. Look Scully you can play your
Eagles albums in here while cruising over the Golden Gate."

He was practically jumping up and down on the spot. She had to
admit Mulder was adorable when he tried to spoil her. She wasn't
accustomed to this side of his personality. Mulder was too loving
and far too generous. Other women would have milked the affections
of this man for all it was worth. She was positive Phoebe had taken
advantage of Mulder's sweet nature. He'd probably gotten in way
over his head as he tended to with most things. Was he now in over
his head with her?

"Mulder I agree it is a very nice car maybe for someone a little
younger and a little more outrageous. That car.. it's just not me,
I'm not at that point in my life. I guess I want something a
little.. I don't know.."

"Family friendly?"

Her silence was all the answer he needed.

"I know we haven't really discussed that at length."

More silence.

"I think I'd like to have a family.. when the time is right."

"We don't really have a lot of time that's the sad thing about it.
We're getting older, we're not exactly youthful anymore."

"We're not exactly over the hill yet either. What I meant was we
don't really know yet how our life here is going to pan out. It
wouldn't be right to have a baby now. Not when so much is still up
in the air."

"Oh I agree one hundred percent. NOW isn't the right time."

"But it's something to look forward to in the not so distant
future."

"Is it something you've thought of?"

"To be completely honest I was always so caught up in my own life
to consider passing on the Mulder name. Over the last few months
I've thought about what this new direction could mean for us and
children did happen into my imaginings."

"And?"

"And I'd like to raise a little family with you eventually."

They were interrupted by the chirping of Scully's cell phone.

She fished it out of her pocket and glanced at the screen.
"Speaking of 'family'."

"Hi Charlie."

"Welcome home Dana."

"Thank You. Where are you?"

"I'm on campus. My last lecture is scheduled in ten minutes then
I'm free for the rest of the day. Mike's at home working on an
article. Why don't you guys spin by the University. I have a few
people that are looking forward to meeting Mulder. It's not
everyday you get an ex ghost busting F.B.I. Agent on staff. The
geeks in Parapsychology have this kind of hero worship happening
when it comes your lunatic husband."

Lunatic husband? Lunatic she could deal with, the husband part
always caught her by surprise.

"They've got a whole bunch of questions they're dying to ask him.
What do you say? We could grab a late lunch afterwards I'm
starving. You know I'm always starving lately. I haven't been this
way since I was.."

Charlie stopped speaking. "Since you were what?"

"Since I was pregnant with the twins.. Oh man I'm an idiot!"

"Umm.."

"I forgot to pack my pills when we left for New York. I didn't
realize until after.. We rushed straight to the hospital to get to
Jasin. I completely forgot. I was at the hospital for eighteen
hours straight when I got home my contraceptives were in the
bathroom right where I had left them. I was so concerned for Jasin
it just slipped my mind."

"You're going to have to take a test."

"Oh man this can't be happening. I love my children I'd die for my
children don't get me wrong.. but five? If the world doesn't
survive this shit storm what the hell kind of life am I going to be
able to give them? We will survive the initial invasion; we're
immune to the virus but it doesn't mean we can survive when we're
outnumbered by those hideous creatures that I've seen burst out of
infected stomachs. We are only human after all. Not only that but
do you realize each and every time I've had to give birth it's been
via caesarian. I don't want to be sliced open like a watermelon
AGAIN. Knowing my luck something will come up that will require an
emergency c-section. "

"Charlie.. Look I'll go by a drug store, you go to your lecture
and by the time you're through we'll be there."

"Okay.. Yeah and the guys they want to meet Mulder don't forget."

"Okay I'll see you soon."

"Dana?"

"Yes?"

"Thank You."

"You're welcome."

Scully slid her phone back into her pocket with a sigh.

"What's wrong? You mentioned a test, what test?"

"It looks like baby number five might be on the way."

Mulder's face split into a wide grin.

"Scully do you think it's a sign that our clones not only breed
together, but they breed like rabbits?"

"As much as I want children, god I hope not."

Mulder was leaning against the wall casually munching on sunflower
seeds. Scully was standing by the closed door of a female washroom.
They were waiting for Charlie to deliver her news. Scully didn't
know if it was her own desires for motherhood or the odd closeness
she shared with her doppelganger but she could feel the
anticipation as surely as the woman on the other side of the door.
Maybe it was some warped form of jealousy that enabled her to tune
in to the depth of the moment. Would she be relieved if the answer
was negative? Would that make her a spiteful and bitter person?

The door opened and Charlie emerged. She was beaming brightly at
both of them.

"Hold the booties guys. This one's done enough breeding for a life
time."

She was gleefully dancing on the spot. Mulder burst out laughing
at the image of 'Scully' doing something she would NEVER do; a very
convincing rendition of 'Go Jerry! Go Jerry! Go Jerry!' complete
with the stirring of the pot.

Scully was smirking at Charlie.

Mulder spoke up.

"You know Scully she kind of kills that whole 'enigmatic' look
you've worked so hard to pull off over the years."

"Tell me about it."

X

"You are one very lucky man."

Those were the words that greeted Michael as his wife practically
skipped into the kitchen with Mulder and Scully on her heels. He
stared at said heels; he didn't know how she even walked in those
ones let alone skip.

"Why? What have I done now?"

"Plenty of things but you didn't pop one on the oven and that's
all that matters right now."

"Huh?"

"I'm not pregnant."

"Why didn't you tell me you thought you were pregnant?"

"Because I only figured it out two hours ago."

"I'm confused."

Charlie laughed gleefully and boosted herself up to sit on the
kitchen bench. She swung her shapely legs back and forth and stole
a piece of carrot from the chopping board he had been dicing on.

"Don't worry about it. Just be happy I'm not pregnant."

He shrugged good naturedly and pressed a kiss to her cheek. When
she tried to steal another piece of carrot he slapped her hand away
playfully.

"Get out of here. You're going to eat all the dinner before I even
cook it."

"So?"

Her hand darted out again, snagging another piece before he could
stop her. She popped it into her mouth and bit down hard with an
audible crunch. She grinned smugly as she chewed.

"Don't play it tough with me O' Neil we all know you're a little
pussy cat."

"So how come I can drop you in under two seconds?"

"Cos I let ya."

"Hey whatever helps you sleep at night."

Scully could hardly wait for her mother to meet this new family
she had been blessed with. God knew how much Maggie Scully had lost
with the passing of her husband and daughter. No one could ever
replace the two of them but Scully hoped her mother would find the
room in her big warm heart to accept her new 'relatives'. Margaret
Scully stood to gain another daughter, son in law and four
wonderful grandchildren; just as Scully had gained a sister,
brother in law and four more nieces and nephews.

As Scully stood in the kitchen of Michael and Charlie's home she
felt for the first time that she truly belonged. She belonged in
this new life with Mulder; the only man she could ever belong to.
She belonged in San Francisco; the love of her childhood. Best of
all she belonged to a wonderful family that had given her their
support from the very beginning, wholeheartedly, without ever
expecting anything in return. That's what a family was really all
about. She almost couldn't believe that her life could be so
utterly wonderful. A welcome home dinner with her new family was on
the agenda for the night. After that she had plans in store for
Mulder. They had never gotten around to 'christening' the tub.
