We stick together like the honey and the bee

You and me

“Sssh keep it down! Mom’s going to hear you.”

Dana shoved Dani through her bedroom window and watched as her
sister sprawled out onto the floor giggling like a drunken hyena.

“Don’t be such a kill joy Daaannna.”

Dana had finished climbing through the frame and turned to close
the window softly behind her. “I had to sneak out of the house at
two in the morning to double your tanked ass back home on my push
bike. I wasn’t killing anyone’s joy until you rudely interrupted my
sleep.”

 “Thazz wha sissssters are for.”

“You’re a mess Dani. Look at yourself.”

A soft knock came from the door.

Dana groaned inwardly. This just kept getting better and better.

“Dana are you alright?”

“Yeah Mom I’m fine.”

“Who were you talking to?”

“Huh?”

“I heard you talking.”

“Oh I must have been talking in my sleep. That’s probably what
woke me before you knocked.”

There was momentary silence. Her mother wasn’t buying it.

The door opened and her mother stood there with tousled hair and
red cheeks.

Three guesses as to what her parents had been doing.

Her mother spotted Dani’s snickering form on the floor.

Charlie closed her eyes, reigning in her frustration.

“Dani what are you doing on the floor?”

“Uh.. I’m having a slummmber party with Daaannna.”

“The truth Dani.”

“Okaaay but if I tell you you gotta promise not to get mad at Dana
cos it’s not her fault.”

Dani was always the one who managed to get into trouble with their
mother.

They all heard Michael’s foot steps approaching the bedroom. He
entered the room while scratching his stomach and moved to stand
beside his wife.

“What’s going on?”

“That’s what I’m about to find out. Out with it Dani.”

“Someone spiked the drinks at Shayla’s party. I didn’t know at
first but it didn’t take me long to figure it out.”

“And?”

“And I had a few more.”

She broke into giggles. Despite his anger at his wayward child he
felt a smirk rising to his lips. She was more like her mother at
that age then she’d ever know. Charlie had been quite a handful in
her early teens. Her activities had ranged well beyond a few drinks
at a party. Sure Charlie had been a nun when it came to boys but he
always put it down to shyness. Music and recreational substances
had never been an issue for her. She’d consumed both and had a
ball. By the time her senior year had rolled around Charlie had
settled down and tamed the majority of her wild ways. She had the
occasional bout of mischief in college but her studies were her
number one priority. By the time she became a mother those days
were long forgotten. They still had friends from their younger
years. Reliving the experience wouldn’t be too hard for either of
them. Occasionally Michael wondered if Charlie would happily
participate if he brought her home a nicely rolled joint.

“This isn’t funny Dani. If you wanted to drink all you had to do
was ask for a glass of wine at dinner.”

“Yeah right.”

“I’m serious. Look I’m your mother, you know me pretty well. I’m a
realistic person; I know what I was like at your age. I was curious
about things too. Dani before you go around doing stupid things
like sneaking out of the house and why not ask me about it first?
I’m not going to tear your head off if you admit to me that you
want to try things, it’s only natural.”

“Is this the part where you pull out a packet of cigarettes and
make me smoke the whole thing just to prove a point?”

“Dani being tanked doesn’t entitle you to be disrespectful to your
mother. You should be grateful she’s being good about this. You
have no idea how lucky you are to-.”

“Yeah yeah I’m lucky to have parents who love me and take care of
me because you guys never had any parents to guide you blah blah I
know the drill.”

Charlie spoke up this time.

“Well at least you’ve learned something from tonight. You are not
a very nice person to be around while you’re intoxicated. In fact
you’re quite obnoxious. I think it would be best for everyone if
you got yourself to bed. We will deal with this in the morning.”

X

It was Scully’s first day back at work. Mulder was in the kitchen
still wearing his sweats from the night before and poring coffee
into two large mugs. He set the pot down when she strode smoothly
into the room. Talk about a blast from the not so distant past.
Gone were the jeans, cute little sun dresses and sweats he’d grown
accustomed to seeing her in over the last few months. Right now she
was back in full Agent Dana Katherine Scully glory. He thought it
was quite possibly the most beautiful and familiar sight he’d ever
seen. A momentary ache for their basement swept over him. How often
had he looked up from a file or his computer to see that very image
right in front of him? The memories were bittersweet. The long
journeys on the open road, boring all night stake outs, the thrill
of the chase and her quirky smile whenever he mentioned something
of a paranormal nature had been such a huge part of who they were.
Despite his love of their new life he was still fond of certain
aspects of the old one.

“Did someone call the F.B.I?”

She smiled at him as she slid onto a stool at their kitchen bench.

“Yeah we were told some unemployed bum was squatting in the
building. I came to check it out.”

She was smirking over her mug of coffee.

“I’m not unemployed. I just don’t start until next semester.”

“Lucky you.”

“Don’t tell me the enigmatic doctor Scully has grown accustomed to
living the life of leisure.”

“It was just nice to have the extra time to focus on our work with
the organization. I’ve been in the labs a lot over the last few
weeks it’s been great. The things that I’m learning.. Mulder it’s
incredible.”

“So quit the F.B.I.”

“I can’t do that it’s part of our cover.”

“Just say that you’ve decided to start a family.”

“And six months down the track when there’s neither hide nor hair
of a baby what then? It will arouse their suspicions.”

“They don’t know Jeremiah healed you. They think you’re still
incapable of having children. It wont seem strange to them that
nothing will come of your ‘efforts’.”

“We both agreed we need to maintain employment for our cover.
There is no reason that needs to change.”

“So take another job with less hours. You’re a pathologist, a
highly valuable one because of your work on the x-files. You’ve
seen more than the average pathologist would ever dream to. Get
another teaching job. You were great at Quantico.”

“I’ll think about it. In the meantime I need to get to work.” She
took a final swig of her coffee and slid off the stool with a
grimace. He watched her with one amused eyebrow raised. She had
collected her stuff and almost stiffly ventured all the way over to
the door before he cleared his throat. “Aren’t you forgetting
something G-Woman?”

She turned back to face him. Her expression morphed from puzzled
to amused.

“Will your heart bleed all day if I don’t kiss you before I leave?”

He feigned surprise. “I was merely talking about that salad you
made for lunch.”

“Uh huh. Sure you were.”

She made her way back to stand in front of him. There was
something not quite right with her this morning. With a very false
put upon sigh she reached up to press a kiss to his coffee flavored
lips. His arm circled her waist and pulled her into him. He
instantly took control of the kiss. She could feel the full length
of his still strong morning erection against her stomach. Sometimes
Mulder was like a seventeen year old, he just couldn’t get enough.
She pressed forward with her hips to let him know she knew it was
there. Finally she pulled her mouth from his to speak. “That is
fairly impressive but I have to go.”

“I know you don’t have to be there for another hour. There’s no
need to be a teachers pet anymore Agent Scully. I’m not waiting for
you at the office.”

She scoffed without malice. “You think everything is about you
don’t you?”

“I know everything is about me.” He pulled her back to him firmly
and locked her against him as he sealed his mouth over hers once
more. Outside of their intimacy Scully would never take being man
handled by anyone. However when it came to sex Mulder had
discovered a few things about her that pleased him. There were
surely a hundred ways to put it delicately but the truth of the
matter was Scully liked the caveman treatment. If he dared to let
it spill over into his everyday treatment of her he knew he’d be
one testicle short in a matter of seconds. When it came to their
mutual desire for each other the ball was very much in his court.

He felt her pushing frantically against his chest. Her mouth tore
from his. “Mulder let me go I’m serious something’s wrong.” He
pulled away from her instantly but left his hands remaining
steadily on her upper arms. “What’s wrong?”

She was looking down at the front of her navy blue pants. He
followed her gaze and his eyes widened when he realized blood was
beginning to soak the material.

“Scully?” He watched the blood oozing down her inner thighs.

“Charlie said this might happen about a month after Jeremiah
healed me. I woke up this morning with slight cramps but there was
no blood.”

She made her way stiffly to the bathroom.

“Scully what else did she say? What’s going to happen? That is not
normal.”

He glanced toward the huge stain of blood on her pants then back
to her eyes.

“Charlie said it happened to her. She bled a lot. She had to stay
in the house for two days because she was bleeding too heavily to
go anywhere. I think I know what she meant. The muscles in my
thighs are so stiff. It’s a little hard to walk.”

Scully was stripping off her blood soaked clothing. “Mulder you
don’t need to see this trust me.” He swallowed then nodded. “Do you
need any-.”

“No I prepared myself with everything after she told me. I didn’t
know for sure that it would happen but I was expecting it anyway.
Just call the field office for me. Tell them I’ve got the flu, tell
them, I don’t know you’re the master of bullshitting the
bullshitters, tell them whatever. I’ll be out in a few minutes.”

Michael and Charlie didn’t often ground their kids. They preferred
to instill lessons in their children using their own unusual brand
of punishment. For each bad deed committed in their household the
accused was required to commit a good deed to clean the slate so to
speak. Charlie had arranged with Ally’s husband for Dani to do a
week long stint at the soup kitchen he volunteered at. Dani had
whined and moaned about ‘nasty homeless people’ for the three days
leading up to her big adventure. Dana had asked her mother if she
could go along too. She was interested in being able to help out.
Charlie was relieved that at least one of her daughters had a
compassionate and generous soul. How funny that she should be so
like the woman she shared her fist name with. It was about time the
two girls who had nearly everything they could think to ask for
learnt something about doing it tough. Luckily Dana was a fairly
empathetic young woman. Her sister Dani was completely self
involved. The girl needed to take a good long look at what she was
blessed with and compare it to the truly unfortunate state of
humanity going on in the world around her.

Charlie fiddled with the phone on her desk for a few minutes
before finally deciding to pick it up. She had the strangest
feeling that she needed to call Scully. Maybe things weren’t going
so well on her first day back at work, somehow she could just feel
that something was up.

“Hi Charlie.”

Not the voice she was expecting but no harm done.

“Mulder? Where’s Dana?”

“She’s in the bathroom.”

“Why isn’t she at work?”

“She’s uh she’s bleeding.”

“Oh right yeah I knew this would happen. Listen my last lecture is
at two I’ll swing by later with more supplies. She’s going to be
sore and grumpy for the next couple of days. Think of this as
‘Super Period’. Take all of the menstrual symptoms and multiply
them by one hundred and you’ll have some kind of idea of what she’s
going to go through. Oh and if you’re a smart man you’ll make sure
not to touch her breasts. They are going to swell at least an extra
cup size. I’ll be there to save you around three o’clock. See you
soon.”

“Bye Charlie.”

X

So much for her first day on the job. She was wearing a tampon
with two extra long pads lining her from front to back like a
diaper and she still felt uncomfortably wet. This would have to be
the most disgusting thing she’d ever been through. Even worse than
the bile covered nest they found on the Tooms case. Mulder to her
surprise wasn’t being weird about it; he seemed to know what to do.
They were standing in the kitchen. She had just swallowed two pain
pills.

“Does it go everywhere if you sit or lay down?”

She nodded with a grimace. “So we’re remaining up right?”

“Yeah at least until it eases off.”

He came to stand behind her. He pressed one large warm hand to the
lowest part of her swollen abdomen. His other hand started kneading
a slow rhythm against her aching lower back. “Would it be selfish
of me to say that I’m kind of glad you didn’t go to work today?”

It was small moments like these that made the changes in their
relationship so glaringly obvious. They trusted each other
implicitly; they were open to each other in every way now. In the
past Scully never would have allowed Mulder to witness her pain
like this let alone help and console her. She simply didn’t care
anymore if he saw her weaknesses because she knew he appreciated
her strengths all the more.

She tipped her head back to lean against his shoulder as he
continued with his tender ministrations. “You know Mulder you’re
better than a water bottle.”

She felt his smile in her hair. “Scully after they took you did
you notice any changes in your menstrual cycle?”

“I had no menstrual cycle.”

“Nothing at all?”

“I haven’t had a period since I was returned five years ago.”

“Why didn’t you ever tell me?”

Scully laughed at his stupid question.

“Hi Mulder how are you this morning? I haven’t menstruated in a
couple of years; care to investigate that?”

“You know what I mean.”

“It just wasn’t something I felt comfortable discussing. Not even
with my mother. My conversations with her about my infertility were
almost as brief as the one I had with you.”

His lips kissed their way to her temple. “You feel comfortable now?”

“More than you’ll ever know.”

X

The bleeding had eased considerably and Scully could now settle
herself relatively comfortably on the couch without worrying about
bleeding all over it. She was still in a lot of pain with her lower
back and abdomen and her breasts were swollen and tender. Every
time she accidentally brushed against them with her arm she had to
fight the urge to cry out. Mulder was in the kitchen making
chamomile tea when she heard knocking at the door. Scully was
struggling to get her stiff body off the couch when Mulder made his
way into the room waving her back into a reclined position.

It was Charlie’s smiling face that greeted her when Mulder opened
the door. Scully was struck for a moment by the prettiness of her
clone. It was odd to consider someone that looked exactly like you
good looking. It felt a little conceited and vain. She couldn’t
help it though; there was something about Charlie’s face that
brightened things up a little. Scully watched as Charlie pressed a
quick kiss to Mulder’s cheek and delivered a playful swat to his
rear as she breezed passed to get to Scully.

“Hurts like a bitch huh?”

Scully nodded sadly.

“Lucky for you I brought more reinforcements.” She dug into the
large paper bag perched against her hip and started drawing out
items to place them on the coffee table. “I looked around for the
biggest pads I could find. I’m telling you Dana these things are
surfboards. Hmm what else have I got here, oh here it is, a trusty
packet of Naprogesic, a brand new super duper water bottle AND a
huge box of chocolates. Look Dana they’re macadamia nuts dipped in
milk chocolate. You can’t tell me you’re not drooling already.”

Mulder could kiss the woman for her obvious devotion to Scully.
The two women had grown close over the course of the last nine
months. Michael wasn’t bad company either. He played basketball
with the guys every Tuesday and Thursday evenings. They both copped
a fair bit of ribbing from the other guys about being identical and
married to identical wives. Their basketball compadres were as bad
with their swinger’s party jokes as Charlie.

“How long are you staying?”

“I’ve got a few hours to kill. Michael’s at home typing up another
latest article. It’s so good to have him at home it cuts back on
the day care expenses.”

“Good, because the mid afternoon movie is about to start. Pride
and Prejudice, wanna watch?”

“Ooh yeah I like that one.”

Charlie kicked off her shoes, shed her jacket and snatched the
throw rug off the other couch. She dumped the over sized box of
macadamia chocolates on Scully’s lap and settled down beside her.
Once she had the blanket settled around them and the top wrestled
off the box of chocolates she picked up the remote and bumped the
volume up a couple of notches.

Mulder looked on in amusement. Two little peas in a pod. He shook
his head.

“Hey have you got coke? I always want coke when I eat chocolate.”

“Yeah and I feel like tea.”

Both sets of sweet blue eyes turned pleadingly in his direction.
He had to laugh he couldn’t help it. Two identical grins slid over
their faces as they watched him enjoying his mirth.

“If you two were any other woman...”

“We wouldn’t get away with half as much as what we do.”

Charlie finished his thought with a purr and a chuckle.

“Go on Mulder. Spoil your wife, she’s not feeling so good.”

He returned a few minutes later with a coke, a mug of chamomile
tea and a packet of potato chips.

“There you’re all set. I might step out for awhile. I might spin
by your place and see what Michael’s up to.”

“You’re not going to stay?”

He didn’t know if it was his imagination or if they both really
did look vaguely disappointed. This was odd. All four of them had
grown extremely close. Closer than friends, closer than family
even. They were still learning about the dynamics of clone/original
relationships. There was something mystifyingly sexual about it. He
didn’t have the urge to engage in sexual activities with his clone
but he imagined that if such a situation were to occur it would
probably be very much like pleasuring himself. Then there was a
whole other can of worms with his relationship with Charlie and
Scully’s relationship with Michael. It was hard not to feel
attracted to the exact replica of the woman or man you shared your
bed with. He knew that Charlie’s question was innocent enough but
he still couldn’t suppress the crackle of desire her words had
sparked. ‘You’re not going to stay?’ He wasn’t mistaken he HAD seen
a flash of disappointment on her face. Obviously she was as
attracted to him as he was to her. The problem with Charlie was her
open and completely innocent affection. She freely indulged people
in hugs and kisses and with smiles and laughter. Her behavior had
the potential to be misconstrued. Luckily for him he wasn’t a
stupid man. He knew when signals were really signals. He hadn’t
dealt with Dana Scully for seven years without learning a thing or
two about body language.

“I’ll make you a deal. I’ll stay but I’m not watching that chick
flick. True Spies started ten minutes ago on the next channel.”

“What do you say Dana?”

“I think we can pass up a chick flick for Arnie.”

Charlie wiggled sideways so there was a large space between
herself and Dana. She held the blanket back and patted the now
vacant space. His eyes flicked over to Scully. She was busily
unwrapping a chocolate and didn’t seem to care. Okay this was
innocent. The weather was getting a little cooler. Not cool enough
for a heater but cool enough to snuggle beneath a blanket with two
totally hot completely identical women. He gave a thought to
Michael who was missing out big time.

“Hurry up you’re letting the warmth out.”

Mulder stepped over Charlie’s blanket clad feet and settled
himself slowly so as not to jostle Scully. She looked up from her
now unwrapped chocolate and smiled. She brought her fingers up to
offer the treat to him. He declined with a shake of his head and
smile of his own. Her eyes flicked over to Charlie and she held the
treat out to her. Charlie bent forward slightly and opened her
mouth. Scully slid the chocolate delicately into Charlie’s mouth
using the tips of her fingers. Their eyes locked briefly as Charlie
began to chew slowly. Scully turned back toward the TV and fished
out another chocolate for herself. Mulder realized that the erotic
nature of this little scenario was completely lost on Scully. Of
course he’d have to wind up trapped beneath a blanket with each of
them pressed to his side and a growing erection tenting the front
of his sweats. He should have seen this coming.

Half an hour and a trip to the bathroom later Scully’s upper half
was draped over his chest and Charlie’s legs had stretched out not
quite meeting the coffee table. She propped her little heels up on
his shin as a substitute and had her head tossed against the back
of the couch. She was laughing at something being said on the
television.

Her voice broke the dialogue.

“You know I remember before the kids were born Michael and I used
to roll up these really fat spliffs and zone out in front of the
television.”

“I dabbled in college.” His voice was warm and lazy.

“Those were fun times hey?”

“Yeah, crazy times.”

“Dani’s at that age now you know. I caught her and Dana sneaking
in from a party drunk. Well I should say I caught Dani sneaking in
from the party. She called her sister’s cell phone at two in the
morning. Dana snuck out of the house and rode two neighborhoods
over to get her sister and double her home.”

Mulder laughed at the thought. The younger Dana reminded him a lot
of Scully; she was always around to bail her other half out of
trouble.

“You know we should do that one night for old times sake.”

“Smoke marijuana?”

“Yeah.”

She never ceased to amaze him.

“We can’t. Scully gets tested regularly at the F.B.I.”

“Well we can set her up with a nice bottle of red. You’ve got no
restrictions neither do Michael or I.”

“Are you two having an early midlife crisis? Mulder when have you
ever felt the need to indulge in random substance abuse?”

“Oh come on Scully. Lighten up. We’re living a whole new life now.
Who says I can’t have a little fun once in awhile?”

“Yeah Dana don’t be such a kill joy.”

Charlie’s imitation of her wayward daughter was spot on and the
three of them chuckled. She continued in favor of her silly idea.
“I’ll make you a deal Mulder. When you two have finally decided on
and moved into your new home we’ll have a little house warming
party and I’ll have Michael arrange a little stash of herbal
delight for a house warming gift.”

“I can’t believe this.”

“Dana listen to your husband. Lighten up. Despite all the bad long
term effects of marijuana usage it does help with pain and
inflammation. I’d be willing to bet if you had a smoke now it would
take the edge off the pain you’re in.”

“Well we don’t have any and my ass would be in a sling so
Naprogesic is just going to have to do for now.”

All this talk of marijuana and period pain had done wonders for
his now dwindling erection. He could finally take his mind off the
image of Scully and Charlie on that big bed in the peaceful forest
he had been dreaming about regularly. Having them so close to him
had brought the dream to the surface. It wouldn’t be wise to think
of wet playful tongues exploring between twin sets of pink
symmetrical folds when they were both pressed up against him.

“You know Michael has been dropping the occasional hint about me
going back to red hair. I’m not sure which one of us should be
flattered.”

Scully snorted softly against Mulder’s chest.

“You want it red AND wavy? It’s up to you but I distinctly
remember a lot of playground teasing for my hair. We both know we
had a full set of cinnamon curls in our childhood.”

Mulder spoke up. “Cinnamon?”

“Mulder you know the red in my hair is enhanced. You’ve seen me in
all states of undress, if you hadn’t worked that out by now..”

His face softened. “Oh yeah.. Our first case together.. you’re
hair was a ruddy brown. You went completely red within the first
two weeks.”

“You really did put the I in the F.B.I. Mulder.”

He chuckled as their first conversation filtered through his
memory banks.

Charlie watched with interest. Their relationship fascinated her
for some odd reason. It was still so new and yet so old at the same
time. They really made a beautiful pair.. Clone or original.

X

The pain was excruciating now. Charlie had left two hours
previously. Scully was glad Charlie wasn’t around to witness her
losing the chocolate and chamomile contents of her stomach. She
hadn’t vomited so passionately since college.

He entered the bathroom to find two pools of cloudy blue misery
staring up at him from soulful eyes. She really was suffering, even
if she was doing so silently. With a quick glance at the toilet
bowl he flushed the last of the regurgitated brown goop and pressed
a cool glass of water into her hands.

Her migraine was so bad she could barely see straight.

“Oh God. I feel like dying.”

Mulder was concerned. It wasn’t like Scully to say such things.
She always gritted her teeth and locked her jaw without complaint.
A complaining Scully meant only one thing; she really needed help.

“Lets get you to a hospital.”

“No. I don’t need a hospital. I just need to lie down.”

“Scully-.”

“It’s just a period Mulder! You don’t need to go to hospital for a
damn period!”

“Okay okay calm down don’t shout it’ll only make it worse. Listen
to me Dana I’m not totally clueless when it comes to the female
biology. I know this is not normal. Normal periods aren’t this bad.”

“You can’t just trot out my first name whenever it suits you.”

What the hell was wrong with her? She was being completely
irrational and quite nasty. This wasn’t like Scully at all. He
remembered Charlie saying something about multiplying the symptoms
by one hundred. He hadn’t taken into account her irritability
level. He caught on quickly.

“Okay I’m sorry Scully. I just don’t like seeing you in pain
that’s all. How about we get you into bed? You said you needed to
lie down.”

Her eyes went wide for an instant then her face screwed up in
anguish. The glass in her hand shattered on the bathroom tiles as
she clutched at her lower abdomen.

Mulder watched completely horrified as she gave an agonized
scream. She slumped forward until she was in a fetal position
amongst the broken glass and wet tile. Her entire body was curled
up in a tight ball around her abdomen as she writhed involuntarily.
The sobbing was the worst. The sobbing he couldn’t handle.

He slid his arms under and around her and pulled her from the cold
floor. Once she was successfully hoisted up and over his shoulder
he reached for the first three towels he could find and carried his
load into the bedroom. First he set her down on one side, then he
stripped the covers back on the vacant side and spread the towels
out over the sheet. They had been through situations a lot tougher
than this but he still felt a little bit of fear. What if she
wasn’t alright? What if this was worse than what Charlie went
through? Charlie, the thought of that name mentally slapped him
across the face. Charlie of course! She had been through this; she
would know what to do.

“Scully can you roll over here or do you want me to come and get
you?”

She managed to drag herself over to the towels and collapsed on
them face first with her hands tucked beneath her crazed abdomen.
He could see her grimacing into the pillow as another sob tore from
her disobedient chest. She wanted to keep it together. It would all
end soon she had no reason to act like a fool but still the urge to
sob and scream and twist around like a cut snake on the bed was
almost overwhelming. She felt his hands stroking her from neck to
tail bone. She tried to focus all of her attention on the
sensations caused by his reassuring repetitive stroking. She had to
use something to keep her mind occupied away from the pain. It
wasn’t really helping physically but mentally she was piecing back
together her agony blown state of reality. This wasn’t necessarily
a good thing. She had the ability to form words now and she didn’t
like what she was hearing.

“Mulder knock me out.”

“No way in hell.”

“C’mon Mulder before I get my gun and do something we’ll both
regret.”

“Just stop it. I’m going to call Charlie.”

“No! Jesus No! I don’t want anyone to see me like this.”

“Scully she’s your clone and besides I’m seeing you like this.”

“Just shut up and knock me out! You know how to do it! Press on my
wind pipe.”

“Scully that will only knock you out for a few seconds c’mon
partner you know that; you’re a doctor. Don’t even think about
asking me to whack you over the back of the head.”

“Oh my God make it stop!”

She was wailing now. Her tears saturated her anguished face.

“Mulder please.”

Her breath hitched.

“Make it stop.”

This sucked, this sucked big time. Why did she only ask for his
help when he didn’t know how to give it? A light bulb suddenly
clicked on inside his brain. Of course; he needed to wear her out.

“Hit me. Hit me as hard as you can.”

“What?”

“C’mon Scully hit me. Right here.” He slapped his chest.

“Don’t be ridiculous.” He could barely understand that between her
incoherent sobbing and tear obstructed voice.

“C’mon G-Woman sit up and let it fly. Don’t be a pussy, there has
to be some reason why they’d let a midget you like you in the old
boys club.”

He could tell by the tenseness in her shoulders that he was
getting somewhere.

“Do you remember all the whispers behind your back about Mrs.
Spooky? Agent Scully the eager little tramp who got through the
academy by fucking her instructor, only to be assigned to Spooky
Mulder. She was probably fucking him too.”

He hated and didn’t believe any of the words easily flowing from
his lips. He would never under any circumstances say such things to
Scully, but these weren’t just any circumstances. He needed her to
focus her pain on beating the living shit out of him so she could
finally get some peace.

She had managed to flip onto her back and was glaring at him.
Mission almost accomplished.

“Who else did Mrs. Spooky fuck along the way? Maybe she had a shot
at Skinner or even better Blevins.”

Mission accomplished.

She sat up with a face flaming with white hot fury. He watched as
her fist curled and pulled back to hurl a punch at his face.
Thankfully he managed to dodge. She was swinging back again and he
stood quickly to take the blow in the chest.

“What’s the matter little lady? Got your panties in a twist over
friendly office gossip?”

“Fuck You.” She hissed at him like a rattlesnake before delivering
a stinging slap to his left cheek.

“What’s the matter *Dana*? Can’t handle it?”

She launched herself at him this time. He barely managed to stay
on his feet and keep them both upright. All of her energy and pain
and fury pummeled his body as she delivered blow after to blow to
his upper torso.

“I’ve seen an eighty year old kick more ass than you.”

He felt himself being lifted and thrown onto the bed. Scully was a
strong woman he’d seen her take down perps twice her size but the
sheer adrenalin of her pain and anger had turned her into a
machine. She was straddling his lower half and had her fists balled
into the shoulders of his t-shirt. She slammed his upper half into
the bed head over and over again all the while screaming in his face.

“I hate you! I fucking HATE you! I hate all of them! I hate
everyone!”

He could feel his brain rattling around in his skull. He decided
he’d risk the brain damage if it meant some kind of release for her.

Eventually the muscles in her arms burned so badly from her over
use of them she had to stop shaking him. He watched as she wound
down into slapping him half heartedly on the chest. Finally she
stopped all together and slumped forward against him. Her
overwrought body trembled against his battered torso and he brought
his arms up to wrap around her tightly.

“You feel better?”

He felt her nod.

“Mulder.. what you said..”

“I didn’t mean any of it. I was just fishing for a reaction.”

She nodded again. “I don’t hate you.”

He laughed happily. “I know you don’t.” He pressed a kiss into her
hair.

“You’re exhausted. Rest for awhile. I’ll be right here when you
wake up.”

When Scully’s eyes blinked open the first thing she noticed was
the dull ache in her abdomen. She gave a happy sigh. Dull aching
she could manage, all hell’s fury pooling in her uterus she
couldn’t. Luckily Mulder had worn her out; she might have been in
that horrible condition for hours.

She grimaced at the stickiness between her legs. It was time for a
pit stop and a long hot shower. When her feet found the floor and
she pulled herself upright her eyes came to rest on Mulder’s prone
form. He had fallen asleep on his side of the bed with the TV
humming softly and the remote resting on his bruised chest. A surge
of love stronger than any she’d ever felt before flooded her senses
like pure honey. The man had taken all the abuse she had managed to
dish out in her tortured state and without wavering asked her for
more. He may have been selfish in the office amongst his precious
files as her partner but as her husband there was nothing he
wouldn’t do to ensure her safety and comfort. With a tender smile
she turned and made her way out of the bedroom and into the
bathroom.

Mulder woke to the sound of running water. He blinked a few times,
the bed was empty. His sleep fuzzed brain made the connection. Bed
empty-Shower running-Scully in shower. Ogg happy. Ogg smart. God
damn it he was sore. He felt like he’d been hit by a semi trailer.
The woman sure packed a punch. Scully would have to be his all time
favorite action figure. She really needed her own collector doll.
He snorted as the image of a six inch plastic Scully in a little
black coat with a tiny badge and gun came to mind. Was it healthy
to love someone so much you wished you had their action figurine?
Probably not, but he’d take it anyway.

He lazily hauled himself from the bed and sauntered out to the
kitchen. Scully was going to need some more pain killers and she
probably wouldn’t knock back a cup of tea. By the time he had
poured a little milk and a teaspoon of sugar into the steaming brew
she had left the bathroom and shuffled into the kitchen. She was
wearing a pair of heather gray sweats and a white tank top. Her
hair which had grown over the last six months hung damp and wavy on
her shoulders. Obviously she hadn’t been feeling up to doing her
morning dance with the hair dryer and cosmetics bag. She looked
like hell but she was still the most beautiful creature he’d ever
chanced to stumble across.

“Morning.” She stretched up onto the tips of her toes to wrap her
arms around his neck.

This was a nice change from the night before.

“Morning.” He engulfed her small frame with one arm as the other
continued to stir the milk in the hot tea.

“Mulder about last night-.”

He stopped stirring and gently pulled the spoon from the cup and
placed it on the saucer. Now that his other arm was free he ran his
fingers through her hair.

“Last night was last night. The world didn’t end, the sun is high
in the sky and I think I love you more now than I did yesterday.”
He pressed his lips to her forehead. “You suffer so much because of
me.”

“Don’t even think of making this about you.”

“If it hadn’t been for-.”

“Save it Mulder. Now have some tea with me.”

Scully took a medical leave of absence for two weeks. For the
first few days she had simply recuperated from her menstrual
ordeal. Most of her time had been spent alternating between real
estate websites and job hunting. Having a lot of time to sit and do
nothing but think had really helped her sort her priorities.
Remaining at the F.B.I. had an upside but all she yearned for was
release from the damned institution. She wanted less hours, she
didn’t want to go out of town on cases, she had no interest in
fighting against petty human crime, not when a full scale
extraterrestrial invasion possibly loomed on the horizon.

She wanted the last years she had on this earth no matter how many
or how few to be filled with productivity. She was tired of her
‘career’ she wanted to fight the good fight full time. She wanted
to explore every possible way there was to love her husband, not
just sexually, but emotionally. She knew most people didn’t share a
wavelength like her and Mulder. Heaven forbid were he to die or
leave her at that very moment there would never be anyone else. No
other man would ever touch her as deeply or excite her or love her
or even infuriate her as Mulder did. There was not another person
in the universe that could ever take his place in her heart, soul,
mind or body. It was time to give up her dangerous profession for
something a little more sedate. Soon they would be making plans for
a family; for a future. She needed to prepare herself for that time.

Charlie did not have any lectures scheduled for that Friday.
Scully’s hellish periods had finally come to an end and she was
ready to get out of the damn house and shake off her cabin fever.
Charlie promised to be there by ten thirty so they could go real
estate hunting.

Mulder was currently pacing their apartment excitedly in deep
conversation over the phone with Michael about their latest
organization assignment. Mulder had finally been given the chance
to pick out something black and sexy and he was preparing to do
some funky poaching.

She entered the kitchen and watched him yap away like an over
eager puppy. If he didn’t calm down he’d surely pee on the floor.

Ever the champion of multi tasking he scribbled her a little note
and pushed it toward her not once breaking his line of speech.

YOU LOOK HOT WITH LONG HAIR.

She smiled and picked up the now discarded pen.

CHARLIE WONT BE HERE FOR ANOTHER HOUR.

Hard to get was a game Mulder rarely played. He managed to get off
the phone in under ten seconds.

“Bring it on.”

She whooped as he bent down to press a shoulder into her stomach.
He wrapped the arm attached to the shoulder around her upper thighs
and easily swooped her off the ground. His hand came to rest on her
ass and he gave one small cheek a firm squeeze.

She marveled at the difference in their sizes. He could easily
drape her over his shoulder and maneuver around freely. She would
never admit it to anyone but she absolutely adored feeling so small
against him. In moments where time and space oozed into nothingness
and pleasure firmly held the reigns the only palpable object that
existed was him.

All she felt was his long, lean, solid frame inside and around her.

She was jolted from her thoughts by their trek down the hall to
their bedroom.

“Scully don’t you ever menstruate again. I was scared Mulder
Junior was going to pack up his balls and find a new home.”

Scully giggled. That did not happen often.

He tossed her unceremoniously onto the bed. Scully may be small
but years of ingrained tomboy traits had toughened her up from a
young age. Dana Scully had always liked to wrestle with the big
boys, even at thirty seven that hadn’t changed. Mulder knew her
well enough to know that depositing her softly and sweetly onto the
bed would only earn him a dose of her amusement.

“Hey Mulder. I bet I can get my pants of quicker than you.”

They both jerked into a mad struggle to slide out of their jeans.
Scully shot him a victorious smile as she held her leg gracefully
arched toward him with her jeans dangling off the end of her big
toe. He snatched the jeans off her foot and tossed them in the
corner. “People with little legs shouldn’t be allowed to play that
game. They have an unfair advantage.”

“Don’t be a sore loser.” She watched from her reclined position as
he removed his shirt by the foot of the bed. She mimicked his
actions. They were both clad only in underwear. “So uh how long
since..” He eyed her panties to get his point across. “All clear
for a couple of days now.”

“Not that I care or anything I just-.”

“Ew no way. I never have and I never will.”

“Haven’t earned your red wings Scully?”

“That is just disgusting Mulder don’t kill the mood.”

“Oh believe me nothing is going to kill this.”

He indicated to the erection tenting the front of his boxers.

“You wanna test that little theory partner?”

“Oh Yeah.”
