Title: San Francisco - Sounds like a case for Mulder and Scully Author: hummbugg E-Mail: hummbugg@hummbugg.com Website: www.hummbugg.com Rated: NC-17 Disclaimer: All credit to CC and Co. Notes: Wanted to explore a 'Scully cheats on Mulder' scenario without having to actually make it happen. You'll see what I mean. Ain't no sunshine when she's gone Ain't no sunshine when she's gone Only darkness everyday Ain't no sunshine when she's gone and this house just ain't no home anytime she goes away Bill Withers X Mulder was strolling down the hall toward the organization labs. Scully had asked him to stop by and pick up a report she was waiting on from Jeff the lab tech guy. Jeff was basically another Pendrell. He followed Scully around like a whipped puppy hanging on to her every word like it was spun gold. Mulder couldn't get past his amusement to feel any kind of jealousy over the poor guy's obvious infatuation. He quite often teased Scully over the little 'gimp' she had stashed away in a monkey cage in her beloved lab. Late at night in bed he taunted her with long drawn out scenarios of Jeff bringing her spit shined apples and hand picked flowers during the day and sitting at home in his rat trap of an apartment staring at his Dana Scully wallpaper at night. Usually she had to punch him to get him to shut up, an even better method was distracting him with sex. They were great together. His relationship with Scully was without a doubt the most stable and healthy one he'd been in. They had an easy flow of give and take and they made each other happy. They fulfilled each other in everyway. As he approached the door he heard her muffled laughter. He figured she must have stopped by after all. This worked perfectly for him; he was itching to get out of the house and away from all the Christmas decorations. He wanted to go downtown and grab a bite to eat. Exploring with Scully was an activity he hadn't indulged himself in lately. He missed their night time strolling. They always took a night walk when they were living on Washington and Clay. Mulder stopped before the door and looked through the small glass window. His jaw unhinged involuntarily. What greeted his eyes made his stomach drop to his ankles. Scully had her skirt pushed up over her hips and her blouse and bra were unhinged. She was straddling Jeff who was sitting on a short stool and the motions she made with her hips were deliberate and completely unmistakable. She was fucking the scrawny little weed with everything she had in her. Mulder's brain screamed at him to storm in and put an end to the events in motion. The utter betrayal kept his feet rooted to the spot. He couldn't tear his eyes from her as she twisted the knife further and further into his heart with each thrust of her pelvis. He blinked slowly. He almost couldn't believe his own eyes. Why would she do this? This was completely out of character for her. If Scully wasn't happy she would have said something. She would have put an end to it. She wouldn't go about things this way. What he saw through that little glass window shattered all the beliefs he had regarding her loyalty and love and trustworthiness. He never imagined Scully to be the kind of woman who would kiss him goodbye in the morning and kiss him hello in the evening and fuck a scrawny lab tech somewhere in between. His father hadn't been the best role model but Mulder had really believed he was shaping up to be a pretty good husband. Scully need only ask him for the world and he'd gleefully set about handing it to her on a silver platter. Obviously it had all been for nothing. After all these years she had finally betrayed him. His faithful, honest, good hearted, dependable Scully had turned out to be nothing more than a trickster. He couldn't face her here. He couldn't have it out with her in front of other people. He needed to go home and wait for her. The awful sensation of not being able to draw enough breath wrapped around his chest and squeezed down tightly. He turned and made his way blindly down the hall. He had to get out of there and into the fresh crisp air. He needed to get away from all these people before he assaulted someone. X Scully's key rattled in the lock a couple of time before she twisted it completely and bumped the door open with her hip. "Mulder I'm home." Her voice echoed in the dark cold house. She shivered as she dumped her grocery bags on the kitchen bench. "Hey are you home?" She kicked her sky scrapers off with a satisfied sigh and padded over to the front door where her fuzzy sheep skin slippers sat waiting for her. She stuffed her aching feet into them and sauntered into the living room. She squinted and made out Mulder's outline sitting quietly on one of the brand new couches that had been delivered the week before. "What are you doing sitting here in the dark?" "I suppose you were satisfied with that 'report' you were waiting on?" His voice was low and tightly controlled. She knew that tone. Something was up. "I only just got in I haven't read it yet thanks for picking it up." "Oh I didn't pick it up. You beat me to it." "What are you talking about?" Mulder noted that she sounded genuinely confused. Scully had never been able to lie to him successfully. This time she was doing a pretty damn good job of it. If he hadn't seen with his own eyes the proof of her betrayal he would have believed her innocent act whole heartedly. He despised himself for the ease in which he trusted her. "I saw you in the lab with Jeff this afternoon. It looked like you were quite pleased with him." Her face screwed up in confusion. "Mulder are you feeling okay? You couldn't have seen me down there because I haven't been there today. I got stuck with a pretty grisly autopsy requested by the police department. I left there stopped by the super market and came home." "Spare me the bullshit Scully don't lie to me." "Mulder what the hell is wrong with you!?" "You know what I'm talking about! I saw it with my own eyes don't you dare deny it. Don't you dare lie to me. At least have the decency to admit it." "Admit what!? You're starting to scare me Mulder. I have no idea what you're talking about." She jumped as his fist flew out and connected with the heavy base of the large lamp perched on one of their side tables. It hit the floor with a dull thud and an ear splitting crash. The glass shattered on the polished timber floor by Mulder's feet. "That's what I'm going to do to his face if you don't start giving me answers." She realized denying whatever it was that he was so worked up about was only causing him more anger and frustration. Although he had never raised a fist to her she still didn't like his occasional violent outbursts. "What answers do you want Mulder?" "Why did you do it? Weren't you happy? I thought you were happy.. I thought we were happy. Why did you have to do it Scully? Why would you do that to me?" The raw pain in his voice squeezed at her heart. Why was he hurting? What the hell had he seen? "Mulder please don't get angry just stay calm. I honestly don't know what answers to give you. I'm not sure what you're asking. You need to be more specific." She reached a hand out to touch his shoulder and he jerked away. "Don't touch me. Don't ever touch me again." She instantly drew her hand away. "Damnit Mulder! What the hell did you see!?" "You fucking that puny little lab rat! Anyone could have seen you Scully! You just fucked him right there out in the open like a dirty whore." "Mulder-." "I can't believe that you out every other fucking worthless piece of shit asshole on the planet would do this. I thought I knew things about loyalty and respect. When you came along I thought I discovered a whole new level to those two simple words. How could you Scully? How could you be so heartless? How could you throw the last seven years back in my face like that?" "Mulder I don't know what you saw down there but it was not me." She heard a single lone sob escape from the choked battle he was waging with his grief. He tried to open his mouth to spill forth more accusations but nothing would emerge past the monumental lump strangling his aching throat. He was humiliated. He didn't want to fall to pieces in front of her. She didn't deserve to see his pain. His pride was too great for that. He needed to get up, pack a bag and get the hell away from her and the newly furnished home they were making together. It wasn't their home anymore. Her actions had signified that. "Mulder please.." Her arms reached for him once more. He shoved her away. "Get the hell away from me. You make me sick." "Mulder! Listen to me! It was NOT me. I don't know how to explain what you saw but I am going to prove to you that it wasn't me down there. Let's go there right now and check the security logs for today. You'll see that I haven't scanned in" "You're just grasping at straws. Save it. I don't know who you've become, maybe I didn't ever really know who you are but you are not what I ever expected you to be. You're capable of many things but I stupidly never anticipated this kind of betrayal. When we said we loved each other I meant it. I thought the childish games and restlessness of youth were long gone. We're in our late thirties, we're both ready to settle down. I honestly thought you'd be happy with that. I foolishly believed you could love me enough to share that only with me. I was wrong. Dead wrong. I think I should get out of here. I'll uh stop by and get my things when I get my head around this. We'll have to put the property on the market and-." "Mulder! You can't just hide out in the dark and hurl accusations at me! Haven't you ever heard of a fair trial!? If I stand accused I have the right to defend my case. I love you Mulder. I meant it when I said that too. We may have only agreed to a sacred and holy union for the sake of our cover but I took my vows seriously. I swore to trust and honor and obey. I wore to love you in sickness and in health until death do us part. I took an oath to remain faithful to you and only you. I don't just pledge to uphold those kinds of things unless I fully intend to do so. You should know me by now Mulder. I say what I mean and I mean what I say and I always read the fine print before signing a contract." "Just save it Scully. Your words don't mean a damn thing. I saw what I saw." "Mulder years ago I saw you walk into my hotel room, throw me up against the wall and pin me there with a hand around my throat. You threw me onto a glass coffee table and I was knocked unconscious. I KNEW it wasn't you. You would never do something like that to me. Mulder you should know I'd never in this life or the next do what you say you saw." His anger had been replaced by slumped defeat. He silently made his way into their bedroom and began removing clothes from their closet. He figured he'd take enough for a week. This was the easy part. This was the part that kept him focused. If he could concentrate on the tasks he would need to undertake to remove himself from her he could keep a firm grip on his control over the raging emotions churning in his belly and throbbing in his heart. He would need to check into a hotel for a little while until he could find an apartment. He only needed something small for himself. It wouldn't be too hard to find a cheap dump to call home. He was aware that Scully had trailed in behind him and was watching him as he methodically began to fold his clothing. She was scared now. Mulder was completely impenetrable. Logically she knew that the moment he left she would begin a mad treasure hunt for store receipts and security logs and autopsy schedules to present to him. Her pain over his lack of faith in her was nothing compared to her fear of him walking away over something that was completely untrue. "You can pack the kitchen sink too if you like but I am not letting you walk away from this. You can run as far as you want to Mulder but I'll be here and I'll have the proof of my innocence. I will not lose your trust I will not lose your love without a fight. I don't care if that means I have to fight you to win, because I will win. I will prove to you beyond a doubt that I never have and never will have any intentions of betraying you in any kind of way." He silently went about his business. His face was void of any expression. She knew that face; it was the blank face. A far less amusing version of his 'panic face'. "Damnit Mulder! You were willing to trust Fowley when her betrayal stuck out like dog's balls to everyone else. You wont even give me; your wife, the benefit of the doubt? That is really messed up. Even for you." "So you want to turn this into a shit slinging contest? Grow up Scully." She stood there gaping at him for a few stunned seconds. This was getting messy. It had the potential to get really nasty and she was in control enough to realize that she didn't want to say anything she might regret later. They were going to solve this puzzle the way they solved all the other ones. She had to approach this in a way he was familiar with. She couldn't lose her head over his outrageous accusations and curse and scream like a fish wife. Her former 'persona' was in need of a revival. Agent Scully was back in business. "Mulder we need to approach this the way we would as partners. It didn't matter if we sat on opposite ends of the investigation we always managed to respect each other enough to listen to what we BOTH had to say. I think we need to calm down get our heads on straight and LISTEN to what the other has to say. No random insults, no barb slinging, no drawing weapons and especially no personal involvement." She waited for his answer. Would he at least give her this? "I'm not saying I believe you, but it's only fair that I hear you out." She nodded and took a deep steadying breath. Okay this was good, a talking Mulder she could deal with. She couldn't show any uncertainty or he'd be on it like a hound. She tilted her chin up, then up a little further. She mentally kicked herself for taking her shoes off the second she got through the door. "8.15am I left the house. I got in my car I drove to work and parked. I went straight to the cafe across the street from the morgue to buy a coffee for which I have the receipt somewhere in my purse and I made my way straight to the morgue. I performed an autopsy and gave a two hour demonstration to a group of students from a near by med school. I was about to leave for the afternoon when the Police Department started hounding me. You know I always give precedence to law enforcement now that I've left the F.B.I. It doesn't hurt to have contacts." "You're getting off track." "Oh.. sorry." Was it a crime to want to share things with your husband? She supposed it was when said husband thought she was an adulteress. "I was stuck back for hours with that one. They wanted to run every test known to mankind. Somewhere in between all of that I called you and asked you to pick up the report I was waiting on. Finally at seven pm I was finished. I took a shower in the change room, from there I went straight from the parking garage, for which I have a time and date stamped ticket, to the supermarket and from there I came straight home. The bags of groceries are on the kitchen bench and there's a receipt of course. That is what my whole day consisted of. Oh I left out the sandwich I barely managed to get down at lunch time before the med school kids arrived. I didn't leave the place all day not even at lunch time. I made the sandwich at home. That is my version of events. Let's hear yours and we'll try and find a connection." He really hated how she managed to look so damned innocent when a scant two hours earlier she had writhed wantonly over that asshole lab monkey without a thought for her husband in her head. He dragged his focus back onto their current 'investigation'. It wouldn't do to lose control again. He heard her out, now she'd hear him out and he would get the hell out of there like he had originally planned. "I left not long after you. I went down to the University to get things organized before I start lecturing next semester. I got caught up with some of the guys from parapsychology. Those guys are worse than Danny." He felt a grin begin to pull at his lips. He slammed that urge down in a hurry and set his mouth in straight line again. "Anyway after I got away from them Charlie roped me into sitting in on one of her lectures. She managed to have me take over the entire thing halfway through and later told me practice makes perfect. I got your call after that. I figured you'd be ages so I hung out with Charlie for awhile, we robbed the stationary cabinet for something to do and played darts with freshly sharpened 2B pencils and a picture of Nixon." Scully's mouth twitched into a smile. He had to look away. He couldn't allow himself to love her sweet little face. Her sweet little chipmunk face. He'd always thought Scully looked like an evil little Disney chipmunk when she smiled. That was another thing she had killed for him today. He would never be able to watch Chip 'n' Dale again. Those two little Chipmunks had always been a secret boyish indulgence. If asked he would never admit to actually sitting down and watching the childish cartoon. Scully was the only one who knew that little secret. She loved them just as much. She wasn't Scully the Secret Squirrel for nothing. Sadly he hadn't anticipated how secretive she really was. "Mulder?" She took a step closer and he automatically took one back. He could see the pain in her expressive eyes before she managed to conceal it. That wasn't his problem anymore. She brought this on herself. "Don't make it personal Scully. Back off." "Okay." She raised her hands and took two healthy steps back. "Anyway.. I left the University around five and I headed over to the lab as you asked. When I got to the one you usually work in.. I uh I saw you sitting on top of him.. with your skirt up around your hips. You were uh.. you were-." "It's okay I get the picture." He nodded and locked his gaze on the bed he was standing next to. She'd even ruined the brand new bed. He'd never be able to sleep in it again, not with the memories of her imbedded in the dark wood and firm mattress. She'd ruined everything. He still had his work with the Organization, he still had his quest, but she'd ruined everything else. All his plans, all his hopes and dreams for the future were simply ruined, shattered beyond repair. "Okay.. we're going to need to gather evidence to support our stories. I think we should look into the scan in logs and the security footage. I'm going to get copies of all my reports, the times I performed the autopsies will be on them." "You know what? This is ridiculous. I know what I saw." "Mulder you're the man who can spin a thousand tales about werewolves and shape shifters before breakfast- wait- shape shifter. SHAPE SHIFTERS! Mulder it has to be a shape shifter. There's no other way to explain how I could have been in two places at once!" "You're a real piece of work." He was back to pissed off. "What?" "You can't just ditch the skeptic routine to grab hold of a convenient story. You can't just spin the first 'spooky' tale you can think of to lure me into believing you. It doesn't work like that." "Mulder I'm not trying to spin any tale. I bet if we check the logs you'll see that I didn't sign in. Hopefully if we review the security tapes we might see it in action." He dragged a case out from under the bed and once again began to focus on getting out of there. He would do as she suggested. He would investigate this if only to rub salt in his own wounds. He wanted to believe, but this time he was scared to. What if it really wasn't a shape shifter? What if he really had seen Scully in the lab? It was bad enough feeling the way he did now; did he really want to go through the impact twice? "You know what Mulder? It really hurts that a man who used to see fluke men and liver eating mutants on an almost weekly basis can't bring himself to believe his own wife when she's telling the truth. You're not the only one who knows what betrayal feels like." She didn't bother to hang around for a reply. She turned her back to him and slipped quietly from the room. X For two days and two nights he remained holed up inside a motel room; a cheap dingy motel room. He didn't need pretty luxuries; that had all been for her. Everything had been for her. Whether she had wanted it or not. He had switched his cell phone off almost immediately after leaving and hadn't bothered to switch it back on. He'd checked in to the motel under an assumed name. He still half expected her to come looking for him. A large part of him wanted her to come looking for him. Normally he was a man who investigated things to death, albeit in his own peculiar and brilliant way. He couldn't bring himself to regard this as a mystery. He couldn't bring himself to investigate it. He was too content for lack of a better word to wallow in his own hellish misery. His father hadn't been the perfect husband and he had discovered a few years ago that his mother hadn't been the perfect wife either. His mother had not only betrayed her husband but she had betrayed her son. What kind of woman would allow her son to be created with the help of a vile chain smoking creature like CGB Spender? The man was the devil incarnate. Sure his father wasn't exactly attentive but he hadn't been an asshole. His mother had never wanted for anything. She had been a pampered spoilt self centered bitch to be brutally honest. If Scully had betrayed him like Diana he would have been permanently scarred. But Scully betraying him as his wife, just as his mother had betrayed both of his 'fathers' was damn near crippling. This had nothing to do with the work and everything to do with the heart. A near fatal blow to a mortal heart was a lot for a man to shoulder. He had enough emotional issues thanks to his family, he hadn't expected Scully to heap more shit onto the pile. He missed her. He missed her like an amputated limb. He could still feel the phantom sensation of her clinging to his open wound. He had to get out of the motel for awhile. He was turning into a zombie. He needed to start getting organized. He needed to clear things up between Charlie and himself. If they were going to be working pretty closely he had to get the situation straightened out with her as soon as possible. Surely Scully had confided in her clone. Charlie probably knew the whole story, told from Scully's angle of course. Mulder shrugged into a clean black turtleneck and changed from sweats to black jeans. He stuffed his feet into his black boots and scooped his keys up from the small bedside table. All black, it suited his mood perfectly. X He should have anticipated the effect seeing that same small face caused. Luckily it wasn't framed with glorious red tresses. That would have been far too much for him to handle. The petite blonde looked up from the essay from her desk. It was about damn time the fool showed up. She stood and moved around the desk to face him. "You look like shit." "Thanks?" She took him completely by surprise when she took a step forward to embrace him. Her arms wound tightly around his neck and his head bowed to press into her shoulder. She felt the same, her skin and hair smelt the same and although the accent was slightly varied the timbre was still the same. "You're a moron you know that?" He sighed and moved to pull away but her grip intensified and she wouldn't release him. "We've been worried sick about you." He laughed against her ear. "What reason would you have to worry about me Professor Moore?" "What reason? You even have to ask? You're a part of this family now. So is Dana. Your actions not only affect yourselves but they affect us too. Michael and I never had a family until we made one. We take the concept of family very seriously. You can't just switch your phone off and avoid everyone because there are people all around you who love you. A family will always take care of their own no matter what the circumstances." He was completely blown away. How was it possible that two test tube babies, who never had anyone to love them and teach them right from wrong , could offer him more love and support than his own mother? After a firm squeeze she dropped her arms and took a step back. "If you had bothered to call any of us over the last two days we could have put an end to this bullshit a lot sooner. The Organization was infiltrated by a shape shifter. It went around causing all hell within the facility. We figure it was intentionally sent to stir up trouble within The Organization offices to hide something. The same thing happened in New York at the same time. Something's going on. They're trying to distract us. We haven't figured out why yet but we've got spies working on it." "How did it get in?" "Jeff the Lab Tech guy." "He let it in?" "Not intentionally. After Dana told me what happened I went down there to pump the stupid little asshole for information. He said 'Dana Scully' was standing outside the building when he returned from lunch. They walked in together, he scanned in and didn't bother to remind her to. That's something that our security department is going crazy over. It's a direct breech of protocol. EVERYONE is meant to scan in. I don't know how the guards missed it. He said they made their way down to the lab and then she propositioned him and it was all on from there. It was trying to stir up trouble. What better way to go about it? Break up a few happy homes, start a few fist fights, spread a few rumors, cause an all in brawl in the cafeteria, smash up the Lab equipment and the list goes on. Oh and don't worry Dana wasn't the only one who ended up in the dog house. The damn thing had sex with six other people under the form of various colleagues in very easily stumbled upon locations. If we ever get our hands on it I'm going to have to get it to teach me a few tricks. Talk about stamina!" He was grinning, he was actually grinning. His face felt like it was going to crack open along with his rapidly expanding heart. "We found out all of this a couple of hours after you took off. You've been hiding out for two damn days for no reason. You're a fool Fox Mulder." She was smiling at him with a mixture of exasperation and tender affection. His smile faded when he realized that this was simply the beginning. He couldn't assume everything would pan out alright. Despite his reaction being totally justified he had still done a huge number on Scully's head. Would her capacity for forgiveness stretch this far? What if she slammed the door in his face and iron gates around her heart? He hung his head. When he spoke it was barely audible. "How is she?" "How she usually is." He looked up questioningly. Charlie supplied the familiar answer. "Fine." He grimaced. "She's keeping it together in front of all of us. Including me." "But you're not buying it?" "Nope; not when she was mindlessly poring over scan logs and security footage and gathering timed and dated copies of autopsy records in the hope that she would find you and show you what you wouldn't believe." "Does she hate me now?" "No. She just wants you home." X Now I heard a cryin' man, is half a man with no sense of pride But if I have to cry to keep you, I don't mind weepin' if it'll keep you by my side Ain't to proud to beg, sweet darlin Please don't leave me girl, don't you go Ain't to proud to plead, baby, baby Please don't leave me girl, don't you go The Temptations X Easier said than done. After packing up his case and cleaning out his room he had driven around for hours working up the nerve to face her. Despite Charlie's assurance that Scully just wanted him to go home to her he couldn't shake his guilt over the whole mess. He could have at least kept his phone switched on. What if something had happened to her? What if she had been trying to reach him in the middle of an emergency? Anything could have happened to her and his own foolishness would have prevented him from being there. How could she ever trust him to believe in her? He'd basically ignored what she had said, he hadn't done as she suggested, he had shut himself off from her at a time when they should have been working at their problem together. Despite all of his doubts he had finally managed to steer the car toward home. The journey hadn't been long enough for his liking. He sat in the car for a few minutes drumming his fingers on the steering wheel and staring up at their house. All he had to do was get out the car and a few short strides later the smell and sight of 'home' would greet his starved senses. Despite his insistence that their tastefully decorated dwelling had been for her benefit, the place still felt like home. He could live in a cardboard box and it would feel like home if she was with him. He stood at the front door beneath the merrily flashing Christmas lights. He hoped the vibe in the house would be as merry as the lights by the time all their Christmas guests arrived in little over a week. He slid the key into the lock and slipped inside. The inside of the house was dark. He could see the flashing of faint blue light. The TV in the living room was on. He closed the door softly behind him. He was about to take off his shoes but thought better of it. He still wasn't completely sure if Scully was going to kick his ass to the pavement or not. He slowly made his was toward the living room guided by the flickering light. Finally he stood beneath the large square arch that served as an entrance to the living room. His eyes immediately sought her out. She was asleep on the plush couch with her head on a throw pillow and a blanket covering her small frame. The coffee table was littered with files and papers with a few video tapes thrown in for good measure. He could see the beginnings of dark circles forming on the delicate flesh beneath her eyes. Even in sleep her cheeks glistened with tear stains. His eyes cut to the television and what he saw stilled his capacity to draw breath. She had been watching his Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers DVD. He found it the week before at a quirky little movie store down town. He'd snatched it up gleefully and presented it to her like he'd present her the holy grail. They never got to watch it to the end. She had 'distracted' him to say the least. His eyes returned to her reclined figure to find twin pools of misery staring back at him. He couldn't speak, he could only stare as she drew herself up into a seated position. "I suppose you're here to start making the arrangements?" He was confused. She thought he was leaving after she had gathered all of her proof? He couldn't speak yet. He tried to look at her questioningly. She got the message. "There were two shape shifter attacks on San Francisco and New York. That much we've established. I've gone over the video footage from the lab as well as all the other footage with a fine tooth comb. I can't prove to you one hundred percent that it wasn't me. I have no footage of it changing shape. This one is very smart and very sneaky. I figured the video evidence is all you'd be interested in. The scan logs show no record of me signing in and I have evidence as well as witnesses that will state I was at work during the incident. I assumed you would deduce that I falsified the written evidence to suit my own agenda. I was hoping the video tape would help put my case to rest but I failed to come up with anything. It looks like you win after all." She couldn't hide her tears but she could turn her face away. "It doesn't matter that you can't back it up with hard evidence Scully." He watched her teeth sink into her lower lip to keep it from trembling. "Because I believe you. I believe in you. I always have and it was wrong of me to stop. Especially when you needed my faith in you the most." Time slowed as he watched her glistening lashes beat randomly against her skin. "So uh are we headed for divorce court?" "What do you want?" "I just want to come home." He paused briefly and reached out to touch her hand. "If you'll have me." It was her sob that broke the wary tension. Mulder lowered himself beside her on the couch and pulled her into a suffocating bear hug. She didn't resist, she hugged him back just as fiercely. "Mulder I thought-." Her voice was choked off by another strangled sob. "Shh it's okay. I know what you thought." He buried his face in the familiar scented hair and inhaled deeply. That was home; that smell. No other scent was so closely tied to his heart except for maybe the smell of her skin. His face slid down the side of hers and he nudged her hair away from her neck with his nose. He pressed his face against the warm line of her neck and inhaled until he was dizzy. "God I missed You." He rained kisses on the sleep heated flesh; ravenous for an assault of Dana Scully on all his senses. Smell, sight, taste, touch and sound. Two days without her had seemed like an eternity when he honestly believed his most basic senses would never experience another moment with her like this again. Her head ducked and turned and their lips met. Their mouths clung desperately as he swallowed the taste of her salty tears. His desperation to be closer to her was matched by her own. Their lips separated with an audible pop as Scully yanked her sweater off. He wasn't wearing a bra. He dove for her warm breasts with a moan and began tugging at her pajama bottoms as his teeth latched onto a nipple. She kicked the annoying material off her now bare legs and tugged at the bottom of his turtleneck. He let go of her breast long enough to allow her to pull the unwanted fabric over his head and arms. Once his mouth was settled back in its rightful place he bunched his fingers into her panties and waited for her to lift her hips off the couch. He yanked the scrap of material over her slender thighs and managed to get them down to her calves before he spread her open with two firm palms pressing against her knees. Even though it was a little awkward with her panties still holding her legs captive he bent forward and pressed his face against her small sensitive labia. He pressed an open mouthed kiss to the searing flesh before his tongue delved between her delicate folds. She squirmed against his face and cried out hoarsely as he lapped at her like a thirsty dog. If he were a dehydrated man in a desert, he had surely found his oasis. His mouth moved a little higher to change from stroking to suckling. His nose burrowed deeply against the well trimmed strip of hair that decorated Scully's petite bank of flesh. The first time they had made love Mulder had been pleased but not surprised at the tidiness in which she kept herself. It didn't matter that no one else saw it; her grooming in all areas had always been impeccable. Save for the relatively thin vertical line of pubic hair on top she was completely bare underneath. It was just one more small thing in the long list of many things that made going down on Dana Scully an absolute joy. He felt her kicking off the panties from around her legs. Once she was free he felt her raise lower limbs up and in toward her body. Her little feet came to rest on his shoulders and her hands clutched at the hair on the back of his head. She used her feet against his upper body for leverage as her hips rolled keenly beneath his face. She was crying out constantly now, her hands kept him trapped between her quivering thighs, he had no intentions of going anywhere until he got to taste the tantalizing gush of her satisfaction. She was gasping, he knew what that meant. He bit down lightly around the base of her clitoris with his teeth to push the sensitive nub completely out of its shell. With a flat tongue he stroked over the top of it rapidly. Worked like a charm every time. Her feet flew from his shoulders to spread her legs wantonly. "Fuck Mulder." He heard that emerge between unintelligible moaning. Her hips quaked beneath his quickly learnt and constantly developing skills. No one had ever really bothered to intimately learn the way her body worked like Mulder had. No one had ever wanted to give her everything she dreamed for like Mulder had. It was when she topped over the edge to free fall in her pleasure space did she truly understand how utterly devastated Mulder had been over those awful events. No one would ever stand by him the way she would, no one would ever accept and love every part of him like she did. Mulder couldn't bear to lose her just as she couldn't bear to lose him. He finally withdrew from her happily singing center to raise completely to his knees. He knelt between her rubbery legs and drew her hand up to press the palm against his cheek. Keeping his hand cupped around hers he turned his face and pressed a kiss to the middle of her hand. She forced her eyes to return to his from their spaced out vacation and she smiled. She dropped her eyes to his pants and stared pointedly. He laughed happily and made quick work of his shoes, socks, pants and finally boxers. In the mean time Scully had stretched out on her back across the indecently over sized couch. Her feet just reached the halfway mark. There was plenty of room for Mulder to settle comfortably on top of her without his legs dangling over the arm. His long solid frame finally filled her welcoming limbs and pushed her into the plush softness of the cushions. She brought her eyes up to meet his before he pressed his length into her waiting body. "Welcome Home Mulder." X I've got so much honey The bees envy me. I've got a sweeter song Than the birds in the trees. Well, I guess you'll say What can make me feel this way? My girl. "Mmm yeah?" "Are you okay?" "Yeah I juzz woke up." "At midday?" "Is it midday? Wow I haven't slept this late in a long time." "I take it the two lovebirds are back to feathering the nest?" Charlie heard Mulder's voice in the background. "Go 'way Charlie. Call back in a week." Charlie laughed gleefully. "You were only apart for two days. Geez get a grip on yourselves. Anyway the reason why I called.. I was starting to think I was going to have to go into full Christmas emergency mode. Are we still on for Christmas at your place or do I need to start loading up on food over here?" "The halls are decked Charlie. Christmas isn't ruined after all." "Good now tell Mulder to start practicing his turkey carving skills." "Oh I think he's a little focused on bringing some other skills up to speed first." "Dana! You evil wench!" Mulder's voice floated through the line again. "Would you two stop talking about me while I'm right here? It's very disconcerting." "Stop it too many people talking at once. Charlie evil wench is your title; I'm the good one remember? As for you Mulder I distinctly remembering you promising me a huge steaming cup of coffee in bed when I woke in the morning." "I don't remember that." "You'll remember it quickly if you know what's good for you." Charlie interrupted. "Okay guys I'm not really up for hanging around to hear the finer points of Mulder's gimp routine. Well catch up later and start with the preparations." "Okay I'll call you soon." "Bye Dana." "Oh and Charlie?" "Yeah?" "Thanks." "No problemo." X
