Chapter 3

“S-Serabis,” I said surprised he was here, “What are you doing?!”  Skye was confused.  Serabis didn’t answer.  “Serabis, answer me!”

“Feeding,” he said slowly looking up at me.

“That’s a small child though!  I thought you were better then that!”

“So?  Their blood’s better and besides, Raphael told me I could take anyone’s blood here.”

“What?!  You’re working with him now?” I asked getting angry.  “How can you work with him?  He turned this beautiful city to darkness!”

“Better dark then light, my dear,” he finished feeding on the girl’s blood and set her down standing up.  “You have yet to learn.  Why do you talk to your master this way?”

“Because I can’t believe you would join forced with Raphael!  He killed my parents!  I thought you were better then him!  I thought you taught me to only kill animals!”

“He’s my brother,” Serabis answered.  At this both mine and Skye’s eyes got wide.  He was Raphael’s brother?!  This I had never knew of.  “And, no, I didn’t teach you to only take the blood of animals.  You taught yourself that.  Personally I think that’s a waste of your power.  Yes, Raphael is my brother.  My parents kept me a secret because only one of us could be king.  Raphael was older so of course he would get the role.  It was then that I was changed.  Being kept in the shadows of the castle, a vampire got hold of me.  They soon forgot about me and acted as if I didn’t even exist.  Raphael didn’t though.  He always remembered me.”

I was stunned.  How could this be?  Serabis took care of me, trained me.  This meant that Raphael knew of me being a vampire and before I could destroy him, I would have to destroy Serabis.

Skye walked up behind me putting his hand on my shoulder.  “Starre…” he said.  I continued staring at Serabis.

“Serabis, you know we will have to fight.  If not now, then we shall later.  If you plan to work with him, I will have to kill you both.”

“Unless… You join forces with us, of course,” Serabis answered smiling.  Then he snapped his fingers and I became numb.  I couldn’t move but I was aware of what was happening.  My eyes looked dark, cold, and dead.  Serabis started laughing as I began to walk towards him.  No.  I didn’t want to keep walking.  I didn’t want to join his side.  He was controlling me.

“Starre?!”  Skye shouted. “What are you doing?!”  I tried to struggle but I couldn’t break the bond Serabis had created.

“S-Skye…” I managed to say.  “H-h-h….e….” my voice couldn’t speak anymore.  I stopped walking and stood next to Serabis.  Oh Skye… I thought.  I’m so sorry.

“What did you to do to her, monster?!”  Skye ran towards us but right before he reached us Serabis raised his hand.  Skye went flying backwards crashing into the wall.  I stared at my loved with tears in my eyes.

“Skye?!”  Kazor and Rayne ran outside to Skye.  Serabis only smiled, turned and started to walk away.  I followed.  Kazor watched us confused.

“K-Kazor…” Skye said weakly.  “Help, Starre…”  Kazor was still confused but nonetheless he did what Skye had told him.  Rayne tended to Skye as Kazor appeared in front of me and Serabis.

“Oh hello there, sir and where do you thing you’re going with her?”

Serabis and I stopped walking.  I was still trying to break free of the bond.  He tried to use his power on Kazor as he had done on Skye but Kazor blocked it with his own sending Serabis to the ground.  The bond Serabis had created instantly broke.  Pretty good for a half breed, I thought.

I turned around and ran back to Skye and Rayne.  “Skye, I’m so sorry!” I cried out burying my face in his chest.  “Are you okay?!”  He was leaning against the wall.  I looked in his eyes.

“I’m fine, just a little scrape,” he said.  “Dun’t know ‘bout Kazor though.  Looks like he’s taking a beating, but are you okay?”

“Yes, I’m fine,” I answered and then turned around to face the fight with Kazor and Serabis.  Kazor was doing quite well.  Usually a half breed would be dead by now.  “Serabis, you’re fight is with me!”

Kazor and Serabis stopped fighting and stared at me in surprise.  Kazor looked a little worried but Serabis smiled.

“Starre, don’t.  You’ll get hurt,” Skye said.  “I was just kidding about Kazor.”

“It’s okay, I’ll be fine.”  I told him but he stepped in front of me anyways.

“No, I’ll fight him.  I won’t let you get hurt.”

“Skye…”

“Shh,” he said.

“Hey down there!” someone yelled to us.  Apparently he was somewhere up high.  Then a small creature the size of a house cat landed in front of us.  It had long ears much like that of a rabbits and had a long tell like a cats.  Though it wasn’t a very large creature it was carrying a large bag, which appeared to be heavy, on its back.  The creature’s fur was a light blue with dark blue strips covering it.  It also had white paws and a red star jewel on its forehead.

“Sorry I’s late, Skye,” said the creature.  I stared at it amazed.  It could talk, too.

“Nah, you’re just in time!” he bent down taking the bag off the creature’s back.  Then he pulled out a long silver sword from it.

“So… Who’re these ladies?” the creature asked.

“Introduce you later…  Hey vamp!  Ready to fight?!” Skye walked toward Serabis with his sword.

“Please be careful,” I said seeing I wouldn’t be able to change his mind.

You are no match for me, human,” Serabis answered.

“Don’t be so sure,” said Kazor.  “Good luck, Skye.”

“Won’t need it, but thanks.”

Kazor slowly walked back towards me, Rayne, and the creature.  He had a few scrapes on his arms, legs, and a small cut on his cheek.  His clothes were also torn slightly.

Rayne ran over to him and he rested his head on her shoulder.  She took him inside to bandage his wounds.  Half breeds don’t heal as fast as full breeds do.  It takes at least a weak for them to heal their wounds.

I stayed outside watching Skye get in a fighting stance with his sword.  The creature was watching too, confused.

“Well, well, what’s this, Skye?  Oh, you’re alive, I see,” Raphael said walking out of a dark alley.  The sun was beginning to rise.

“Oh no… He can’t fight them both!” I gasped.

“Don’ worry, Skye will be okay,” the creature said having heard me.

“Serabis, I told you, you could feed, not start a war,” Raphael sighed.

“I’m sorry, my lord.  My pet caught me feeding so I thought I’d try and get her to join forces with us,” Serabis answered bowing slightly.

“Don’t call her that, vamp!” Skye was disgusted by Serabis.  Serabis ignored him.

“I see…” Raphael said and then got silent.  He was thinking.

“Don’t hurt yourself Rah-fey-el!”  I yelled.  All three of them looked towards me.  Skye was the only one amused.

“Watch yourself there, Starre, I can have you beheaded,” Raphael countered.

“Like to see ya try!” Skye and I said at the same time.

“Come, Serabis, lets not start a war just yet.”

“Yes, my lord,” Serabis answered his brother.  Then the two of them left back to the castle from which they came.  Skye walked back over to me and the creature and put his sword back into the back.  He picked up the back and threw it over his shoulder.

“Sorry for bringing you into all this, Skye,” I said to him.  I felt bad.

“Nah, its okay… I’m used to it,” he answered.

“Used to it?”

“Yeah!  He fights all kinds of things!  Wolves, beasts, vampires, witches and a lot more!” the creature said cutting into our conversation.  “Now, who is she?”

“This is my true love, Mik,” Skye said.  “Isn’t she something?”

“Oh, I see… You just meet?”

“Nah, we’ve always known each other. She disappeared a year ago.  Been searching for her ever since.”

“Oh!  That’s why you travel so much.”

“Yeah, and Starre this is muh buddy Mik.  He’s a Mikau.”

“Nice to meet you,” I said and smiled.  Mik stared at me.  Then he climbed up on Skye’s shoulder.

“She’s a vamp, Skye!” Mik whispered.

“I know, Mik.  It’s okay,” he said not bothering to whisper back.

“Hey, I think I smell something good coming from inside.  How about we go in and eat now?” I said changing the subject.

“Sounds good to me, I’m starving!” Skye said.  After that we all went inside for breakfast.
