Chapter 7

Skye wondered what I had been staring at and turned around.  He saw the other vampire and then let go of me to shut the door.

“Skye, wait,” I said.  He looked at me worried.  The vampire, along with the raven, slowly walked inside.  Then they took their hood off and at once I recognized them.  It was Guenivere and Xavier.

“Guenivere!” I exclaimed excitedly.  I hadn’t seen either of them since I returned to Cerebres.  “How are you?”

Guenivere was about the same height as me.  Her hair was short and dark and her eyes were brown.  Her skin was also paler then mine.

“Hey, Starre, I’m fine, and how about you?”  Guenivere replied smiling.

“Ahem, aren’t we forgetting someone?”  Xavier said annoyed.

“Hi, Xavier,” I laughed.  “I’m great, Guenivere.  How’s Xavier been?”

“Xavier has been lonely,” Xavier replied turning his head from me.

“Aw, I’m sorry.  I couldn’t bring you with me at the time though,” I said.  Skye stood there confused looking at us all.  “Oh, sorry, Skye, they are my friends, Guenivere and Xavier.  Guenivere and I trained together, and I saved Xavier from being eaten by Serabis.  This is Skye, my love.”

“I see,” said Skye.

“Nice to meet you,” Guenivere said but Xavier stayed quiet.

Suddenly there was a loud meow from outside.  Then Mindy barged inside and hugged Skye’s arm.

“Did chu miss me, Skye?” she asked him.  Skye ignored her and pushed her away.  I glared at her.

“And who is she?” Guenivere asked seeing the way I looked at her.

“An annoying cat called Mindy,” I answered her.

“I’m not annoying!” Mindy said.

“Well ya know what?  Cat blood is rather good, and human blood is delicious.  The two would probably taste quite good…together,” I joked.  Mindy twitched.

“Well... Then who is she?” Mindy asked trying to ignore what I had said.

“My friend Guenivere and this is my Raven, Xavier.”  I took Xavier from Guenivere’s shoulder and placed him on mine.

“Raven…?” Mindy stared at him.  “Yummy…”

“What the?!  NO KITTY YOU CANNOT EAT ME!”  Xavier shouted.  Mindy looked as if she was about to start drooling.

“Lunch is ready,” Rayne came out of the kitchen.  Kazor had been asleep on the couch and suddenly fell off.  Apparently he had been dreaming.  “Oh, hello, are you alright?”  She helped him up.

“Yeah, never better.  So, lunch is ready you say?  Let’s eat, I’m starvin’.  Err…  Rayne, who are they?”  Kazor asked a little jumpy.

“I have NO idea who they are,” she replied.

“Yeah, I’d like to know, too” said Mik sitting up.  He had fallen asleep before I had introduced Guenivere and Xavier.

“Oh, you guys, this is Guenivere, and this is Xavier, my Raven.” I answered the three.  “Guenivere, Xavier, this is Rayne, Kazor, and Mik.”

“Nice to meet you,” Rayne and Guenivere said at the same time.  I smiled.

“Starre, I’ll see you later, I don’t like human food.  Though, humans do make very good dinner.  I’m going to go see Serabis,” Guenivere told me.  I twitched when she mentioned Serabis.  She didn’t know yet…

“Err… Wait, I’ll come too.  Sorry, Skye, Rayne, I’ll be back later you guys.  I need to talk to Guenivere,” I said quickly.  Guenivere looked at me unsure.

“Starre…?” Skye looked at me worried.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be okay, Skye,” I kissed his cheek and then quickly left with Guenivere leaving Xavier.

“Oh, great, what am I supposed to do now?” Xavier said after we had shut the door and left.  He stared at the door while the others went into the kitchen to eat.

Guenivere wondered why I had said I’d go with her.  I lead her to a dark alley in the opposite direction of the castle.

“Isn’t he staying in the castle??” Guenivere asked wondering why we were going away from it.

“Yes, but…I must explain to you some things that have happened about him…” I said stopping.

“What do you mean?” she stood behind me.  I began to explain…

Meanwhile as I explained to Guenivere about Serabis and Raphael, Skye and Kazor decided they would go hunting after lunch.  Mik and Xavier were upstairs.  Rayne had gone outside to do a bit of gardening.  Her garden was beautiful compared to the city of Cerebres.  It was amazing.

A dark figured suddenly grabbed her from behind.  She screamed.  Mik and Xavier raced down the stairs after hearing Rayne’s scream.  They tumbled down the stairs.  Then they ran outside seeing Rayne struggle to get away from the dark figure.

Mik growled and pounced on him biting his shoulder without thinking.  The figure threw him off and he crashed into the side of the house.  He rubbed his head and then realized that his paw had been hurt.

Xavier looked down at Mik and kept silent.  The tall figure laughed and Rayne suddenly passed out.  He then put her over his shoulder and disappeared toward the castle.  “S-Serabis?!”  Xavier recognized him.

After hearing a scream, I had raced back to Rayne’s.  Guenivere went to check in at the Inn.  I ran inside and then went out the back door to see Mik and Xavier.  “Where’s Rayne?!” I asked.

He took her…” Mik said whining.  He sat up and licked his hurt paw.  “I’m sorry, I tried to stop him.”  I sat down on my knees and stared at the grass.

“Starre, it was Serabis,” Xavier told me.

“I see… Thank you, Xavier,” I replied.  Not long after Skye and Kazor came in.  They came out to the back as I had done wondering where everyone was.  They were surprised as I had been when they saw us.

“What happened…?” Kazor asked as if he was scared to know.

“They’ve kidnapped Rayne,” I answered picking Mik up.  Skye kept quiet and put a hand on my shoulder.

“What…?”

“Mik tried to stop him, but he wasn’t strong enough.” I explained and walked inside quietly.  Sitting Mik on the table Kazor, Skye, and Xavier followed.

“Damn!” Kazor cursed kicking a chair against the wall.

“Don’t worry, we’ll get her back,” Skye said.  I gently wrapped Mik’s paw in a bandage and then went upstairs.  Why did this have to happen? I wondered staring out of the window in mine and Skye’s room.
